Woking, Wednesday: An emotional press conference was held at the McLaren Technology Centre today as 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton revealed that his manager Anthony Hamilton had stepped down from the role of being his father, effective immediately. runoffarea.co.uk
Poor Lewis. No beer and bowling for him.
EDIT: Oh, it's a joke... I get jokes.

The “divorce” of the Hamiltons is not quite unprecedented in Formula One; however, rumours in the early 2000s that Michael Schumacher was planning to resign as the brother of Ralf were never confirmed.runoffarea.co.uk

The timing of this event has raised a red flag in my mind. Most sports personalities make managerial changes between seasons, unless something traumatic occurs. But we're not between seasons, testing is complete, and Bahrain is going to happen very soon. Yet, without any indication to the public, Lewis and his dad are separating their business affairs. And to top it off, he has no agent, nor did he prepare for this scenario.
There's something going on that we're not aware of, I just don't buy the "I want to spend time with my dad bowling" line ...... even though it's plausible.
Whatever the reasons, Lewis Hamilton is changing, and his environment is too. Last season he had his dad and pussycat girlfriend in his pits, there to offer emotional support. But for 2010, both are gone, and in a sense, Lewis is really on his own. Yea, Ron Dennis will be lurking in the shadows to make sure his asset is protected, but Lewis just won't have the support structure he enjoyed in the past.
It will be very interesting to see how he deals with his multiple challenges this year. His teammate is the reigning WDC, the car is going to be very new and different, and he and McLaren have to climb back up in the standings, and finally, the competition will be fierce.
Lewis is now 25, he's no longer the new kid on the block. He has become a man, and now we get to see how it all plays out.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

They have decided to make changes but will be officially an item again. Perhaps his dad got on his nerves about his girl friend. Most people object to having their parents meddle with their intimate relationships. Could have happened in this case.

Wow, thanks WB, maybe this is the missing key I was unaware of.
Based on the timing and how quickly this unfolded ( drop his dad as manager without preparing for a new manager) I believe something important and maybe traumatic happened in Lewis' relationship with his dad. Not that anything unpleasant occured between them, but there just has to be more to this story than Lewis' desire to go bowling with his dad.
A source said: "It was just before Valentine's Day during a tearful heart-to-heart that they decided to give their relationship another go.
"Nicole agreed after laying down strict guidelines to put more romance into their relationship.
Like I said, the timing is relevant.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.
So Button will be better prepared in terms of jet lag this season?

The Jordan comment comparing the pussy doll problem with the night clubbing problem was a hoot. Alludes to a certain Finish McLaren driver?

This management decision already looks like a bad move, he needs his pops there to smack some sense into is head... you dont fly all those miles for some tang, especially just before a race.

This isn't for just one race. Hasmilton is expected to take residence in Los Angeles for pretty much the complete 2010 season if Nicole stays in the show she is starring in. So he will be commuting from his rented two homes to the European races. The last man who did this was Michael Andretti, and he wasn't on west coast time.
