Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

My feeling is that they are testing their contingency plan, because that fin attachment is definitely without hole. It would be a sensible thing to do if there is any chance they have to race with it.

I notice the mirrors seem to still have the lenses for the tyre cameras in that pic that they used during testing. Do you think mclaren will actually use the cameras during the races or are they just using the same spec mirror casings to reduce production costs?

I imagine they'd have a small insert to put in there. However, if the weight wasn't too great, I don't see the problem with keeping the cameras in place as it will give them an accurate reading of the tyres during the race which can be no bad thing.

I think that is the camera mount without camera.

Back of the engine cover, where the shark fin splits off, compare to:

It is missing a panel. That panel is probably adjusted race to race depending on how big cooling outlet they want at the back.

It's this lower section of the engine cover.

This isn't part of the adjustable wing, it's the camera mount or just part of the airflow splitter, I'm not sure where the camera is now on Mclaren if it's front wing or if it's still on the engine cover. The front wing elements are not allowed to be full length from the end plates to the front wing mount, so the adjustable wing controls are in the end plate.

I really hope that the fin is legal, when is it tomoz we find out? I read in an article about this that its up to the stewards at the race? Surely its Charlie who decides and they would have checked with him before they done it?

edit: no its today? lol

You'd think that the stewards wouldn't be operating in isolation from the FIA and Charlie etc. I'm sure all will be fine.
