I think they'll use their new engine cover seen in testing, Melbourne weather is not so hard on engine so it's predictable.

Talking about last year developments i think they had a bigger margin to develop, they fitted an "hybrid" DDD and developed the best F1 KERS system, that made huge difference, this year I dont't expect them to do the same "big step", not to mention Ferrari is completely focused on this years championship, Brawn is in theory stronger in development because of mercedes backup and RedBull is that fast and fragile team that just needs to be regular.

I have heard they had a new engine cover (Ringo might have mentioned it I think) but I haven't seen it. Anyone got any pics? I sincerely hope it's a bit slimmer than what they have now.

I mentioned the one they used at the launch and in testing. As Afterburner was saying the temperatures at Melbourne are much lower than Bahrain so with a lower cooling demand we are back to this cover.



I hope it and the other changes make a big difference [-o<

I don't think they'll run the launch engine cover, the bahrain spec was giving them better results. I don't think it was because of the heat only.

Is it me, or does it look like the L/H mirror (left in terms of the picture, not the driver) has a piece of card covering the square-ish hole which apparently contains the "camera" for monitoring the state of the front tyres?

Also, the hole in the right hand mirror seems to have a cover which has been partially cut away to enable the "camera" to see out.

Something odd about the sidepod intakes in this image?



1. They seem to be asymetrical (but this could be because the panels are in bits?)
2. The top and sides seem to be white rather than the normal silver (but this could be a reflection of a cloudy sky I suppose?)

Thoughts anyone?

Oh, and the snorkel seems to be absent from the tub too!


EDIT: Sorry, my mistake. This shot only shows the nose and not the tub! The snorkel was never mounted on the nose anyway! Sorry all.

It looks like it's just because they're in bits, yeah. It looks to me as though they're resting at different angles, which is fair enough! In terms of the white-ness, I'd put that down to the exposure and post-processing. All of the colours look a bit off, and I doubt that they would have changed the colour scheme for the second race! Is that even allowed?

It's white because that part of livery was reflecting a lot of light. So that part of the photo is just too bright. Normal thing
