Surely one of the Asian races, when every cousin who needs a job will be there?

China or perhaps Malaysia?

Actually it is China with 55 marshal posts! But Monza is not far behind with 51. So the Italians also look to get some people in without Bernie taking cash.

I wonder what will happen when India gets their GP. Will they beat China hands down?

Over to you X.

Let's see now, it's getting increasingly difficult to find something which cannot be googled that easily, why I stick to the 70s.

At the great race at Monza in 1971, what was the most spectacular feature of Ronnie Peterson's second placed March 711?

No Googling (Ever, in my case! Or Wikioftenwrongpedia. That's against the spirit of these type of quizzes innit?) and off the top of the head before leaving work for the day. Didn't he race without the tea tray on the front of the March? Or was it that we was the closest 2nd place ever?

Corect Gary, but it didn't stop there, he had no wings whatsoever, just a tiny trim-tab where the rear wing used to be.
With the general shape of that car, he must have ran the race with a positive lift, imagine that at 220 km/h+ average?
There are drivers and there are drivers.

And yes, he was beaten by Peter Gethin with 0.01 second, only due to a cracked exhaust.

Your go.

Wikipedia is the second most accurate encylopedia available.
Britannica score slighlty more, but both have the same % of factual errors.
The difference in huge study conducted last year was the poor use of english in some articles on wiki when compared to Britannica.

In addition, errors are very quickly corrected on wiki on production of a valid source.....

And contrary to popular belief, Wikipedia is banned in some uk Schools not because of accuracy, rather the ease at which students can get the information with.
This can hinder their ability to do actual "research".....
More could have been done.

Sorry to have been a while everyone. It's me birthday and the family took me out for a meal!

OK, I've really tried to come up with something that is Wiki and Google-proof.

All this pic requires is a little bit of detective work. The driver is easy enough to get so from there, please tell me which race, which year.

What could be easier?

Correct!! There was no Belgian Grand Prix in 1969. It was cancelled at the behest of the GPDA on the grounds of inadequate safety barriers.

The baton is yours.

The convention of the previous year's champ carrying number 1 only started, I think, in 1975. Previously, entrants applied to organisers for specific numbers if they had a preference and sometimes their preferences were granted, sometimes not. The formula was an arcane blend of random allocation, first in best dressed and nods and winks.

Famously, Stirling Moss preferred number 7. Mostly, he got it, sometimes he didn't.

Back to Denny. Something was afoot in 1968; he was allocated number 1 in all the Grands Prix except Monaco, Belgium and France where he had 12, 6 and 8 respectively. Something to do with Franco influence and perversity perhaps? :? :| #-o

Quick one. In Sweden Denny Hulme is still famous for winning the race he absolutely should not win, the inaugural Swedish GP in 1973, what happened really?

With just three laps to go Hulme overtook Stewart when the Scot suffered a rear brake failure. On the penultimate lap Hulme was able to pass the local hero to snatch victory, the New Zealander's decision to run harder tires having paid off. Peterson was second with Cevert third.
Hulme obviously profited from reliability failures of two competitors ahead of him (Fitipaldi and Stewart) and then reeled in Ronnie Peterson whose softer tyres were shot at this stage. If the other two had stayed in the race he may not have been presented with the opportunity. But the race unfolded that way and Hulme won it fair and square.
