However I remember Whitmarsh saying he was a bit hard on his tyres in Oz :?

In terms of Victories though, Button won and led pretty much start to finish, Has Hamilton looked like winning this year? Honest answer please
Honest answer? That'll be a no then.

As for Glock slowing down, possible. It was wet and Glock was on slicks so who knows. Wouldn't surprise me though (McLaren).

Massa is the true 2008 champion. He simply drove a better season.
Is this a joke?

You conveniently forgot that Massa was gifted a win (a bonus 4 points) at Spa, and that Kimi had to let him through in order to stay alive in the championship. Oh, and that he ruined Lewis' race in Japan by ramming into him.

Hamilton has likely broken the record for most penalties in a season (some of them were totally unwarranted) but still won the WDC, despite some small mistakes on his part but also some crucial ones from the team (why run a low-downforce config when rain was forecasted in Brazil!?!).
Massa was not gifted a win. Hamilton went off the track to pass and was correctly penalised.

Whatever. I am not going to get into that. He did give Kimi the place back and went by the book. No matter how you put it, justice was served in the last GP and Hamilton got his well-deserved WDC. Not saying Massa didn't deserve it, but saying that the title is his reeks of sour grapes. Just get over it, okay?

Massa had the fastest car over the course of the season and yet did not capitalize. His mistakes early on (Australia, Malaysia, his gazillion spins in Britain, etc.) likely cost him the title.

Then why respond to a post about it then? No sour grapes here - just plain facts. If Massa had won, it would have been an honest win. To say that Massa did not capitalise on a fast car is rubbish. It was Ferrari mess ups that lost him the title. As for the spins in a wet Silverstone - Ferrari set the car up for a dry race so Massa had no chance.

hehe... here come the excuses. of course you forget that McLaren had set the car up for a dry race in Brazil as well, and even for dry the downforce was at the low end so better straight line speed so when the rain came down he had no chance...

oh wait... we're talking about Hamilton and not Massa.

And you have the nerve to say Glock slowed down. Of course you forget drives like Hockenheim where Hamilton was given duff strategies and still managed to get wins. That was the difference between Hamilton and Massa in 2008.

No excuses, just facts. Ferrari did mess up at crucial points. Look through Ferrari's past. They always self destruct at crucial times.

The rain in Brazil was only in the last couple of laps and was pretty light compared to Silverstone where is hosed down for the whole race.

And I didn't say that Glock slowed down - I said it was possible. So no nerve needed.

No facts here, just opinion and interpretation.

You have a real chip on your shoulder, don't you? Lewis won, Massa lost, that is the fact of the matter.

As for Spa, your assertion is incorrect. He did not go off track to pass. He went off track to avoid a collision (thus doing himself and Kimi a favour). He then gave the position back and went for it, pulling off a fairly good overtaking maneouvre under brakes to do so. Your men were showed up on track, but were lucky the stewards weren't kind to Lewis.

Even if we could all agree Massa should rightly be WDC in 2008, it would be then fair to say that Lewis should rightly be WDC in 07. However many podiums in a row, on debut, shows up his double WDC teammate, as a rookie, and it only comes unstuck for one DNF in China and technical issues in Brazil. The world was unfortunate to miss out on perhaps one of the most glorious sporting achievements in recent memory that year, but there's no point crying about it now. Same goes for your buddy boy in 08.

The fact is Hamilton is the 2008 world Champion; won it in only his second year in F1. 8) And to put icing on the cake he blew away a 2XWDC on his way there.

Ole LH is the best 7th place driver in the field.

I will always remember LH for running into a parked car in pit lane, that takes true driver talent.

Accidents can happen in F1. On purposes never should. Rascasse being the prime example. Trying to run your WDC competition off the road on the penultimate race being another.

frankly the pit lane accident was the fault of hamiltons pit crew ....he should have been reminded that the light was red ...the others obviously were if you watch the replay , they just ambled to a stop

all very well saying he should have seen ...pit stops are one of the highest pressure moments in a race , driver needs all the help he can get

Hehe even with everything he did, and the win that was taken away from him, he still won the WDC. Sweet justice! Was fun seeing the Ferrari pit crew so depressed.

The shock on Filipe's father's face and that Ferrari mechanic breaking the glass in frustration made that championship even more satisfying.
