Agreed, this article describes some of them ... http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/03 ... ng-uk.aspx

Did you mean "crazy" in a good way? I think its awesome for them to be surrounded by so much history.
Yeah crazy in a good way. Sort of mad that in random corners of Woking there are all these incredible machines hidden away.

Yeah that's a photo of a 20

Here's a 15:

Me, I prefer the curvy front wing of the later car, the 15 looks a little straight and primitive for my tastes.

And by extension, that obviously means that the 23 on the previous page is maybe my very favorite, I love the crazy, turn everything up to 11 aero, especially the scooped mouth of double main-elements and the bridge wing. That's pure physics, made out of carbon-fibre.

The 15 looks so simple in design, so different to the cars of today! Who knows what the car of tomorrow will look like?

As if by magic to prove I wasnt making stuff up, Mclaren have put a video showing one of those very industrial units I was talking about.

you really feel the passion there..
of Ron Dennis ,who really made Mclaren after the decline following james hunts championship win in 1976...we is right to be so proud of this achievement....
I remember his F2 team ...was it already called project4 ? with Hofman and Cheever as drivers in March ...his cars looked so awesome ,more like workscars than the real ones...

But also Hamilton and Button really beamed back to boys in this shed of mclaren history ...just great ...love it.

If I was Jenson or Lewis in their, I would have to shed a tear or two! All them cars, with so much history and heritage behind them must be amazing.

Wouldnt mind knowing where that lock up is, probally in Woking!

I bet they have a security guard or 2 on the doors; as lets be honest.. must be a few million quids worth of carbon in their.

Another thing I noticed, the McLaren "reflective paint" seems to be less reflective and more dull compared to when they first released it? Was their a reason for that or is it just my eyes?

Read earlier in the thread. I have already said there are quite a few Mclaren owned units all round Woking.

Also the paint it 'duller' because it is grey instead of the newer specially developed chrome paint in 2006

Why cant McLaren put them on the site they are on at the moment? Suppose they dont want some tatty warehouse on that site.

Why did they make it duller?

Because they already own these units so why not make use out of them. There isnt enough space at the MTC. It already has enough cars around to mean a lot of shuffling about when events etc are held.

If you mean building a warehouse then no they wouldnt want unit making the place look worse and they wouldnt be allowed as MTC is in a green belt so it is tightly regulated what they can build.

The grey turned to silver/chrome to attract more attention
Meanwhile, the MP4-21’s striking new livery has an innovative surface coating, which achieves a high level of reflectivity and makes the largely composite machine appear chromed.

“A lot of research have gone into creating this unique chrome finish," said McLaren marketing managing director Ekrem Sami. "The livery (was) designed to be extremely photogenic”.

I would sooner visit that Donnington Museum or that warehouse before I would the Louvre... maybe I have a reason to visit the UK afterall

The Chrome was much more striking than the duller silver they have now

Are you insinuating that I am uneducated because I have not, nor do I desire to visit the Louvre?
