Hamilton does not affect Alonso's race. Alonso is just jealous he didn't cross the line with Lewis.
A black flag for lewis??
For what, being a metre too late?

The stewards needed time to assess the penalty, and what it was exactly. No surprise to me it took them so long to figure out if there was an offense, and what punishment it deserved.

Alonso just makes him self look bad, whinging and not even focusing on driving the car, getting overtaken by a rookie in the process. Ferrari need to lose that guy and secure hamilton after 2012.
For Sure!!

I seem to remember Ferrari and Schumacher getting a stop and go drive through years go and taking it on the last lap, so effectively crossing the start finish line whilst driving to his pit box. Was against the "spirit" of the rules, but they still did it, as they did with testing the F10 this week!

Please correct me if I am wrong learned population of the board, but doesn't the driver have a light on his wheel stating if the course is under yellow or not?
Yes that there is a Yellow flag with SC, but SC gives Green light on his roof if the car may pass it! Hamilton couldn't see if it was Red or Green!

Strange thing to do. Hamilton clearly screwed up there. No idea what went through his mind. Anyway, he got punished and that is it.

Hamilton did got punished but I think the point is that it was not heavy enough according to what he did. I expected a 10 second stop and go punishment, with the drive trough he didn't lose enough time to compensate the advantage he gained.

I also think FIA messed up once again with their safety car. It’s quite frustrating to see that they often don't manage to catch the leader or even crash them out of the race. It can't be so difficult to just drive out in front of leading car. #-o

surely alonso should be punished for making a public statement that the race was manipulated ? he would be in any other sport that I can think so , and rightly so !

and am I correct in thinking that the safety car is on track from the moment it reaches the safety car line at the exit of the pits , that if you reach that line first you don't have to fall in behind? hamilton was certainly past the blend line first but as he got a penalty that is presumable not good enough
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

sorry to go off topic, but during 1998 there was no rule that you cannot take your Stop go in the last three laps.....there was no rule which state that the s/f line should be before the first pit box....thats why ferrari did that...it was totally LEGAL!...only after that race did FIA introduced the rule about no stop go or drive through in the last 3 laps...and moved the pit boxes after the s/f line

On topic:

here is what Alonso was whining about during the race

Alonso's team-radio

"keep talking to charlie about Hamilton, it's the only thing you should keep doing the whole race"

Well what a whiner, thats clearly disturbing
he is clearly cracking under pressure

it was because of Koba , he was holding everyone up thats why Lewis didnt loose any time....its not coz of drive through was a small punishment...Lewis lost almost 17 seconds IMO!

There is still confusion in some safety car periods. This is unacceptable because the FIA should structure the safety car regulations to make a simple system where confusion cannot exist.

Whenever a safety issue arises where the safty car is depolyed, it should bring stability and calm to the pack, so that the important safety issue can be resolved. All too often I have witnessed situations where cars crash into each other, mistaken passing, and so on during the safety car periods. Something is very wrong here, despite Fernando's plaintive moaning and whining.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

LH should have been black-flagged.

Next race everybody overtakes the SC if he can win some time or position although getting punished with a drive-thru...

should have gotten at least 10-s stop&go, if not black-flagged. He clearly gained more than 17 sec, seeing where Alonso wended up after his pit-stop

He could drive at speed into a crowd of medical staff and marshals extracting a driver out of a wrecked car. Is that bad enough for you?

Some people forget that SC is there not to create more close racing opportunities, but to bring safety by slowing cars down.

drive through is a standard now, when was the last time someone got Stop and Go on track??
2000? 2001?
i dont think its a black flag infringement....its not that worse
