Agreed - it split the race into 2 bunches.

That's off topic ... that discussion belongs in this other thread  viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8678&p=181648#p181648

I think it could go in either - As it caused Alonso to say what he did and its a problem with the Safety car - Too many Threads for similar things!

I agree, I'm slightly surprised by all of this.

Lewis did pass the safety car and no the punishment did not fit what happened. These things happen in Formula 1, most drivers have profited from poorly applied rules or bending them at one point or another and most have been victims. Alonso, Hamilton, Schumacher, Button have all fallen foul of or bent the rules at one point or another.

Nobody is discussing the other drivers who sped to get to the back of the queue and only got a 5 second penalty. Surely this is just as dangerous as they would have driven quickly through the accident but it's not as easy to blame 9 drivers and make an issue out of it as it is to make 1 responsible for the whole thing (trust me Hamilton shouldn't have done it, I'm not defending him).

Ferrari were unlucky and did end up coming off badly but not all of that was fault of the penalty. Alonso lost a place to a Sauber, which I would expect Alonso to be able to defend against (even a Sauber on new tyres).

Surely it would be more productive to come up with some solutions? Something like the cars are speed restricted until they are behind the safety car?

And then McLaren got punishment, no appeal then!
You need to get your facts right. The Oz 09 incident dragged out for ages, do you not remember Whitmarsh being hauled before the WMSC? They didn't appeal because they no room to appeal.

I suggest your avatar and excess use of exclamation marks indicates that you are replying with emotion rather than cold assessment of facts. This is a thread about Ferrari, not McLaren.
I think it was not a lie, he just didn't got the time to really explain him self and the team said they will figure it out them self, And well they didn't ask Whitmarsh to explain him self they just said he was lieing, And then Lewis got DQ.

And everybody always answers with part of emotion in his back head! Everybody has a favourite team, and when somebody else tells sh*t about that team you will automatic try to say that is not true

that was not the reason which those cars were booked for

Those cars were on race pace in the last sector when the SC was announced
What happened was they didnt slow down enough to match the FIA Delta time in their steering wheel.....which Button explained that he was in a fast section (full throttle) section of the last sector when it flashed on his wheel...and he couldnt slow down fast enough and was already into the pit lane entrance....so he couldnot match the delta time and so were the others
thats why they got such a small punishment

Lewis puring salt into Alonso's wound here
Quoted by the Press Association on Tuesday, Hamilton was asked whether Alonso's moaning was a simple case of sour grapes.

"Yeah," said Hamilton. "I even saw him overtaken by a Sauber [Kamui Kobayashi] on the big screen. It's very unlike him to be overtaken by a Sauber so he must have been completely in another world. But I don't understand why I affected his race so much.
Its like good old days

First he says the rules are not percise.

So, from that I read that there is room for interpretation...

Then it's his final comments which bother me, "Hamilton is lucky - everything he does ends up turning out well."

Well, how can you take anything this guy seriously now? It's clearly a highly biased opinion against Lewis. Quite frankly, im supprised somebody even bothered to ask what Flav said, im supprised somebody cared!

So off topic but what the hell,

Yes he should have been, but our good friend Jean Todd from the FIA went for the nice way and just gave him a short ban #-o

God!! i soooo miss Kimi in Ferrari team now
in 2008 he was shafted from behind by Lewis and he merely just pointed him the Red light and went to his garage, no more shenanigans

i can only imagine how Alonso would have reacted back then :P

and i think the whole Ferrari team is jumping with Paranoid Alonso, i dont know why they are getting paranoid with him :?

I am disgusted and furious that the Italian press have given that criminal Briatorre the space to comment.
He is a disgrace to the Italian people and makes that country appear shallow in the eyes of other nations, his opinion will never be valied again in F1 or any other sporting activity.
I hope that if he regains any position in the paddock others will join me in boycoting F1 until he is thrown out for good.

Just as bad as anyone giving MrM airtime or anything like that. As for a disgrace to the nation? Aye he is a disgrace but to the nation? For that you'd better look at what is running the country.
