Sightings of F1 Team Movements

Post

A place for people to post info about any sightings of F1 Team's vehicles

Not just for fun, but might prove interesting if say two lorries belonging to TEAM X were seen arriving at CIRCUIT Y on such and such a date.

Mods, I have posted this in F1/General Chat as it relates to F1 teams, and might offer a clue as to team movements etc. Please feel free to move/delete as you deem appropriate.

Saw a single AT&T Williams F1 team articulated lorry travelling on the M25 between junction 13 and 12 (anti-clockwise) at about 09:30 BST this morning. This is probably the favoured route from their base to Dover/Ashford, approximately the halfway point

Wouldn't have thought they'd leave it until now to move the cars, and I understood that they had a minimum of two such vehicles for the garage & cars, so presumably this would be their "motorhome" en-route to Hockenheim?

I saw a Ferrari Clienti truck in Altens Lorry Park in Altens last year right about the time of Schumacher looking to drive for Ferrari last year just as I was leaving after an inspection (it was just entering the estate as I was leaving). I am still kicking myself for not hanging around in the off chance I could have seen what was in the back. And I had a camera! #-o

My first thought was "what the heck were they doing all the way up there?" but I suppose they might choose a location north of the border in order to avoid too many prying eyes??? Or maybe it was a promo for something?

One of the guys I work with is a big F1 fan. About a year ago his wife saw a Ferrari Clienti truck in the Cults area of Aberdeen. The back was open and inside was an F1 car but that's all the details we got. I think Ferrari Clienti is basically an owners club so it was likely a show model or an older car.

If only I had hung around the day I saw that truck......

Do any of the oil companies who sponsor Ferrari have a presence in the oil/gas rigs which operate via Aberdeen airport? I wonder if that could be a likely candidate?

Shell have an office on the south side of Aberdeen. I did see a mid 80's model being loaded onto a trailer outside Pricewaterhousecoopers office a couple years ago.

There is a motor musseum in Alford (about 20 miles west) so it may have been on display there. They had a Jaguar F1 car last time I was there about 4 years ago.

Perhaps they were holding a "filming day" test session on behalf of Shell?

You sure it is not a Ferrari attempt at an alternate series Andrew.
GP of Aberdeen perhaps.
Heha, obviously a Jackie Stewart incentive for the benefit of the Bank of Scotland and devolution.

Who knows? There isn't really anywhere in Aberdeen that you would want to run an F1 car of anysort. It is no exageration when I say that the roads are terrible virtually everywhere.

It could have been passing through or it could have been a promotional gimmick at a car garage or one of the many oil companies in these parts.

Either that or some lucky rich guy!

Rally cars struggle enough up here, never mind F1 cars!

GP of Aberdeen would be pretty fast though. Stop for 10 seconds in some parts and the car will be up on brick. Nothing taken, just up on bricks.
