Schummi's Plans after his racing Career

Post

I read somewhere on BBC something about Schumm's plans once he retires from racing. I believe it talked about how he might start an F1 team....
It also mentioned something about him trying to maybe talk to Audi or VW to get another manufacturer involved in F1.

Does anyone have anymore info on this?

Basically mate it looks like a journalist has had a conversation with Eddie Jordan that went along these lines...

Journo : Do you think Schumi could start his own team when he retires?

Eddie : I don't see why not.

Headline : 'Schumacher to start his own team'

Someone is trying to generate some interest in their magazine in the off season if you ask me.

Indeed. A nicely inflated story. At least it gives us something else to talk about besides politics!
Logical thing would be for him to tie up with VW/Audi and buy Enstone as mentioned in F1 Racing. Either that orstart on his own with Ferarri engines (for free I would imagine!)

Sounds like everyone is thinking of Shu's retirement. I wonder if he is in agreement.
But Shu has immense wealth, and appears an intelligent investor and businessman. No doubt he doesn't want to think (too much at present) of retirement, but most likely is laying the groundwork for his post-racing career.
But I too think that this is just certain members of the press inventing stuff just to sell more magazines.

I would love to see him start/lead a new F1 team supported by VW or another engine mfg but.............

I doubt that Schuey's is remotely thinking or planning his post race career. As an athelete, especially one involved in such a dangerous & demanding sport as motor racing, physical & mental fitness, and complete preparation for the race season ahead is all that they would be thinking and planning for. The last thing they would want to do is start thinking of another career & begin developing a vision of another place of existence for their heart and mind. It would be too dangerous a distraction during the race season.

Even in the off season, besides checking on the progress of his new house in Switzerland, I'm sure they just enjoy the the little personal free time they have.

I believe he's committed 100% to racing until his instincts tell him otherwise. Then, one day, when he calls it quits, he has all the time in the world to start planning his retiment hobby.

Considering his "fast paced" career, I'm sure he won't be lounging around his pool for too long though.

I would also like to see Schuey take over for Jean Todt at Ferrari.

No he wasnt going to buy the Renault team. What the rumour is is that, SHOULD he decide to enter a team in 2008, with VW/Audi engines he would be based at renault's current Enstone Facility.

Possibly buy their Entry (in effect buying renault) but not Buying OUT Renault.

Basically, people believe Renault will pull out at end of 2006, and schumi will retire. So schu will set up a team baseed at enstone, buy the renault outfit's entry into F1 and then POSSIBLY spend a year to develop for 2008.

Thats the rumour neways. Its not too far fetched. I mean Schumi's name carries some weight ans can opn doors others may find locked. Ross brawn's contract at Ferrari runs out this year also and Schu could tempt him to help with his own F1 outfit.

But i do agree that at this piont I doubt Schumi is really thinking about this much...if at all. he has more important things to think about...like the 2006 Forumula One World Championship!
