If for whatever reason Hamilton was out of contention, Button could win the championship with a little bit of luck, hard work and ramped-up determination. I mean the guy is at worst 2 spots down from Hamilton on average. And they get along. Can't ask for too much more.
The problem is not "Button bashing", the problem is people trying to bring Hamilton's level down to Buttons just because Button is close in points(but not on track). While Hamilton is the best driver on the grid on most weekends Button is probably not even in the top 8, McLaren's great tactics are making him look much better than he actually is. Button consistanly has better pit stops than LH and has gained positions in the pit lane while LH loses them, yet LH is still ahead of JB 90% of the time and if not then LH easily passes him.

This McLaren pairing is only better than the LH/HK pairing only because HK could not finish races half the time, Alonso is better than Button and so were Kimi & JPM, so no this is not the best pairing McLaren has had "in a long time", only since the end of 2007.

Who picked the colors for the graphs? Lame. Would it hurt them to choose blue and red instead?

I believe when LH was told to save fuel, Button was told something else...... Guess what :D

How exactly did you figure that out? What is your best-meter?

So, you are saying that McLaren always give JB the best strategy to make him look good? Have not heard such non-sense for quite a while  I bet if they were so god in the strategy-making, they would give the best strategy to their golden boy, not Button.

you are disgracing yourself and Hamilton by ignoring simple and objective facts .with average delta racepace below .1s on average..that tells everything about their effectiveness.
Nothing to make Hamilton smaller than he is .But acknowledging the quality of the reigning champ..

That is a misconception. Average time for the whole race says nothing about race pace. That is a mish mash of tyre saving, engine saving, on track battles, traffic, pitstop time, etc.
Button's gap in race pace at any given set of laps is usually 3 tenths a lap. He did much better at hockenheim, almost equal to Hamilton though. But 8 out of ten times Lewis is giving button the same gaps he gives him in qualy.

The first stint or the middle of the race are the best times to get samples of race pace. I don't know what method though; maybe taking the best 10 laps in each stint and average them. Whatever it is, i don't think the total race average is a good representation.
Button fans like to use this to make Button seem close to Hamilton. But you can bet that at no given time is button within this purported 1 tenth a lap of Hamilton. Also there is the average they use, 0.083 seconds gap to hamilton in qualy. We all know this is not true at any given time. This number is influenced heavily with lewis poor qualy in australia and malaysia.

Silverstone was as much as 1 second a lap for many laps. Button fans tend to ignore that fact.

I also believe that qualifying pace is no different than race pace. If a driver has the pace in qualifying he will have it in the race. Only his fitness will prevent him from repeating his qualy advantage over his teammate.
Initially, critics say Hamilton could not qualify well and his strength is race pace. Now that that was debunked they say the opposite; his strength is qualy and Button is closer on race pace. #-o
Which makes no sense, because that would mean all button has to do is use his "race pace" in qualy to be within a tenth of Hamilton.

Ringo,

Do you not think perhaps you see things a bit too much in hamiltons favour?
There is nothing wrong with Marcush stats.
They show that things are closer than you give Button credit for.
More could have been done.

Why? It seems guessing is the favorite exercise of many LH fanboys  They guess Alosno engineered Singapur'08, Germany'10 and many others. They guess LH would have passed Alonso in Canada'10, and they guess many, many other things.

Well if Button WAS told something we'd have heard about it since all radio is public now.

So how many races in a row has it been where Hamilton has beaten Button?

As far as who's getting desperate, it's clearly Alonso.

"It's ridiculous", the messsage over the radio when he can't pass his team mate. Who does he think he is? What a arrogant person.

He has to get his team to make his team mate move aside so that he can "win". He then has the nerve to celebrate the win. What a filthy, arrogant cheater.

I give button all the credit he deserves. He was equal in hockenheim and nowhere else.
Now answer me this, do you honestly believe Button is within 1 tenth a lap of Hamilton every race, every lap?

Look on this for example, Hamitlon could drive a race 1 second a lap faster than Button, leading him by 30 seconds near the end, then he can drive the last 6 laps many seconds a lap slower, to the point Button is on his gear box when they cross the line. Leaving the average race lap virtually equal.
Would you ignore that Hamilton was whooping him a second a lap for the majority of the race, then console yourself with the race average, wanting to believe Button is .03s a lap slower than the fastest driver in the sport?

I don't like telling the plain truth like this, because the truth hurts. But whenever i see things like Button is off by 0.083 seconds in qualy, then i have to respond to that, because i was never convinced of this in any qualifying session.

If Button was truly 1 tenth off Lewis in race pace, the results would not be what they are now. Button would still be leading the championship.

Quality of the reigning champ? The same guy who has consistantly been beaten by his teammate in the same equipment pretty much every race this year(notwithstanding his 2 lucky wins)? Every other team has drivers that have challenged each other except for Renault. Yes Kubica is beating Petrov convincingly but after that the biggest disparity between teammates is the McLaren Duo.

Hamilton is dominating Button more than Alonso is doing to Massa, more than Rosberg over MS and Sutil to Luizzi

It is not even close between these two, Hamilton has led over 90% of the laps ahead of Button.

Hamilton is passing drivers in superior cars like Alonso, Vettel & Webber while JB gets stuck behind drivers in inferior cars like MS & Kobayashi.

This supposed race pace delta of .1sec that you claim does not take into account that after securing a higher position in the race LH cruises to the end while Button is usually pushing to the end trying to catch up. Furthermore this claim of .1 sec delta is false Bahrain was .451, Malaysia .258, Spain .821, Europe .134, Britain .397.

The fact remains whatever the difference between them is Hamilton is almost allways politely waiting for JB at the finish line. 7 straight races and counting, complete Domination of a supposed champion. He whooped Alonso but not even this bad.

Button was not equal in Hockenheim, LH compremised his weekend with a practice crash and a poor Q3 yet he still beat JB who was lucky(MW engine problems) to be in 5th. Hamilton started 6th(on the dirty side) yet he was past JB & Webber and into 4th by the end of the first lap, then cruised to the end. Anytime Button gained a tenth, the next lap Hamilton put 2 tenths on him, pathetically Button started overdriving and ran off the road just trying to keep up.

Conclusion? Hamilton on his worst weekend is still better than Button. Complete Domination, WITHOUT TEAM ORDERS
