Peter Windsor back in the F1 circus

Post

Manipe wrote:Peter Windsor resurfaces

Peter Windsor, co-founder of the stillborn USF1 project, has resurfaced as a Grand Prix analyst for e-magazine GP Week, having spent the last five months out of the public eye. The 58-year-old had been the pitlane reporter for Speed TV and Grand Prix editor of F1 Racing before moving to USF1 full-time at the end of last season, but has now returned to journalism with GP Week.

Windsor will write an analysis piece one week after each Grand Prix, while the e-zine will also publish a full-length interview with the Englishman next Monday detailing where it all went wrong with USF1. The interview is the first he has conducted since USF1 failed to make it to the grid at the Bahrain Grand Prix in March.

Peter Windsor's column can be found at www.gpweek.com.
I'm sure we will lear more about the USF1 debacle soonest.

If that interview is in a publication that he writes for then I expect it to be anodyne PR.

The truth wouldn't be complementary - who would work for someone who was critical about their previous job?

I'm sure you will have to take it with a pinch of salt. But having one side of the ownership talk may lead to the other side talking as well. Nothing reveals secrets as fast as a war of words in the press. If Windsor comes out with a bunch of lies I'm sure his former employees and partners will chip in as well.

Well it won't be a very informed article, as Windsor does not seem to understand what Formula 1 actually is.

Judging from Windsor's writings on the USF1 website, I don't xpect anything but another preposterous rambling.
An ourageous defence-speech if you wish. The man is simply a moron.

Worldwide supplies of tar & feathers were used for Briatore, still out of stock.

I can't disagree with any of the Windsor bashing on substatitive F1 issues.

That being said, the guy did know how to work the pre-race grid for SpeedTV. His Sunday gridwalks were sure to produce many awkward responses, and an occasional great one liner. To me he is missed on the SpeedTV F1 broadcast.

The young seagulls in these here parts are starting to wander around with no adults in sight. I reckon I could grab a couple for feathers.

Anyhoo, to serious matters......

As for why USF1 went wrong, I'll sum it up easily. The 6 P's - Pish Poor Preperation = Pish Poor Performance. Simple.

This is the sort of stuff Windy used to do so I guess it's back to the start for him.

I can't see why GPWeek is doing this, what if the moron starts to lecture team-bosses on how to run their teams?

The basic problem with USF1 was that neither Windsor or Anderson with their faked CVs had a clue of what to do.

We're talking about them, and many of us who have never previously been to the GPWeek site may go on to read the articles.

This GP Week emag is brand new, first publication was March 15, 2010. The man in charge is Chris Lambden, who runs the Australian magazine "Australian Autosport News". It appears Windsor has also involved Sutton Images.

I wonder if Windsor is able to even show his face at a race.

Although I respect Lambden and Sutton Images, it's a shame they are involved in one more of Windsor's clown acts.

He was in Montreal. I went to a cocktail party with the GP Tours people and Windsor led a question and answer session with Rubens. He was asked about USF1 and he took a pass on the question.

Didn't the FIA slap the responsible for the USF1 debacle with a hefty fine for not turning up for the championship,
should include Windsor as well as Anderson?

The fine covered the advance payment for the license USF1 had to pay. So the fine was payed by the FiA holding the license fee back. This btw is not another general USF1 thread. I would hate to see all the stuff repeated from another 160 page thread. We should keep this to new information and to information and issues about Windsor.
