AVUS was so bloody fast that they feared the tyres would disintegrate. At this time it was the fastest race track in the world, faster than Indianapolis and Monza.

If you're really picky you have to define what coordinate system are you sticking with. If you're using car as reference point than vertical g's (better say, normal) would be a bit higher than 1 g (1.155 if I'm not delusional).

Today the FiA limits race track banking to 10% or 5.71° except for speedways.
The AVUS Nordschleife itself was 254 m long and 9 m wide and was banked in an angle of 1:11.6. This is an angle of 43° or 96% incline.
As you can see with Google Earth the AVUS Nordschleife had a variable radius of approximately 75 m. During practice for the German GP 1936 Bernd Rosemeyer flew to an unofficial record with a 4:04.2 lap which meant an amazing speed of 284.31km/h. On the straights the cars could reach 380 km/h while the North curve could be taken with 180 km/h.
It wasn't recommended to test the virtual armco.

Great background material as usual WB, if you would try 180 km/h with a radius of 75 meters, you end up with 3.5g for almost 5 seconds, which I guess would be a no-no in these days, regardless how you compute it, good lord.

Xcuse me gents, but these things takes me off, remember that CART race at Texas International which was cancelled due to drivers complaining of lack of vision thru the reportedly 30 degrees bankings, anyone with nubmers on that one?
