According to this source Ross Brawn personally must have made 16 million pounds that year not considering his ongoing share in equity. Not so bad for an engineer. He must have beaten Newey that year.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best ..............................organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)
Well he was a Ferrari employee so he could have beaten Newey before that.
I read once that Newey becomes 8million a year. I thought they would pay more for him he really is making winning cars.
He should get a equal amount of money than a driver gets. His contribution to the teams success can be valued at least equal.

Brawn is a manager. He has a background in the nuclear industry and worked his way from the shop floor of March to the design team of Jaguar where he oversaw the design of the XJR-14.
He has done a bit of everything but his best work seems to be in managing the team of engineers around him to get the best from them. He's a good race strategist too as Schuie's titles can attest.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
Not sure what those figures really mean in terms of understanding other teams' finances, given the huge amount of money Honda poured into the team. Very clear that Brawn need never worry about personal finances again!
As to Brawn, in an interview while he was still at Ferrari, he said he was technical director, and that his role as such was to set the general design philosophy and direction, including basic considerations like understeer versus oversteer, fuel tank size, etc.

Interesting, I guess he was the brain behind this year's Mercedes W01 as well then?

I recently found a snippet about Byrne /Brawn relationship where Brawn was characterised as the organisational head ,shop floor and racetrack but also excelling in detail design and layout whereas Byrne was the guy with lateral thinking ,coming up with brilliant ideas to be harnessed by the realism of Brawn.
Brawn was at Williams very involved in Aerodevelopment and had several cars to his name as overall design responsible... we should not forget his Jaguar design wiped the floor with Mercedes Sauber cars..

That sounds about right. And thanks for the reminder that Brawn was (is?) a quality designer in his own right.

I perectly see the problems you are in when you have done it all and now have to lead a group of hundreds of people you certainly not know them all perfectly but have to steer those groups into the right direction.
Of course you get a bit detached from the actual product gestation and in a ways have to defend and follow up ideas that are not of your own.
Come to it the warm rain of €s rewarding you for all those years of hard work and it is all too easy to see how things may have come as they did ..they simply were too confident of their strength in depth not questioning what happened last year enough ...
the one guy who realised was Button who was a bit put into a corner by the team for letting the pressure get on him in the second half of 2009 ,whereas in reality the guy
kept his championship bid alive and bagged it finally using every half chance he could grasp with excellent drives and measured approach.
