in fact, if he wins in Brazil and Webber is at most 4th, Alonso will be WDC, no matter what the others do... Fingers crossed for his engines to survive and luck in the races.

If Webber is 4th in Brazil, then he'll be at most 24 points behind Alonso in Abu Dhabi, and thus still with a shot at the title. He'd be the only not-Alonso driver with a chance if Alonso won at Brazil, though.

In any case, I don't think "all the fish has been sold yet". Not-Alonso's blue car should be bloody fast in the inner part of Interlagos, and the bumps everywhere should also suit it. The long "straight" and backstraight should play into not-Alonso's silver car's advantage. Given how tight qualy has been in Interlagos in the last few years, I would not discard any result. And that includes Massa winning the race, in case you wonder.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

As much as I hate to say it, congratulations Alonso, I just wished other teams would get behind their lead drivers like Ferrari does.

How did Alonso turn around the championship...I don´t like him but he deserves respect for that achievement.

Hamilton at Monza and Singapore, Webber and Vettel at Korea. That's what turned around the championship IMO.

And don't forget the fact that he has been consistent enough to be able to take advantage of all the points and victory opportunities when they have presented themselves.

The team has prepared and when the opportunities have arisen they have also been there to grab them by the horns. Although the pitstop mistake in Korea could have cost them the race had Alonso not been able to overtake Hamilton shortly thereafter.

All in all it has been a consistent effort while the hare has had problems and failed to deliver 100%. It's the next best thing when you can't be the hare and have the ability to run away with the championship.

I quite like Alonso, for quite awhile now to me he's been at the level of genuine pantomime villain. And I adore pantomime villains. Vamos Fernando!

He is a british pantomime villian...In Europe people actually rather like Alonso.
Rumour as it he is more popular than Schumacher was amongst the tifosi...
More could have been done.

6 podiums with 4 wins in the last 7 races.. - That is how..
Lewis also had a similar momentum going into Monza but his two consecutive DNF's killed it..when Lewis crashed at Monza and Sing, he was behind Alonso and I am almost 100% certain that he wouldn't have gotten into a position to challenge for victory

Well, things can flip upside down again in Brasil. Something tells me Mark Webber is still in a much better position than we think...

I am Spanish. Alonso is not generally loved by the Spanish tifosi. He always spoke very badly of Ferrari. Although I'm Spanish (and tifosi), I'm not a fan of Alonso. In my opinion, he complains a lot, cries a lot. What is certain is that Alonso and Hamilton, in mi opinion, are the best drivers.

+1. I don't think Alonso's chances are better than 55%. That gives not-alonso a decent shot, IMHO split in 35% Webber, 5% Vettel 4.5% Hamilton (because I expect the McLaren to be in slightly worse shape than the RBR) and 0.5% Button.

Someone asked Alonso after the race whether he had realised that, if he won in Brazil and Webber was 5th or worse, he'd be WDC. His reply was: "yes, and if RBR miss the plane to Brazil, we can also win the WDC, but that's not what's going to happen".

Alonso said this was the first wet race he's ever won. :-k

http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/ ... t-wet-win/

But the 2007 nurburgring race he won was wet in parts too.
