I'm supporting not-Alonso

Not-Alonso has done a poor job as of late. He's lost three of the last four races,and he 's lost the WDC points lead. Not-Alonso will really have to try to win this weekend if he wants to stay in the hunt.

How did Alonso turn around the championship...I don´t like him but he deserves respect for that achievement.

Hamilton at Monza and Singapore, Webber and Vettel at Korea. That's what turned around the championship IMO.

You think it was all down to others mistakes? Alonso hasn't done anything to EARN the points lead?(like having the most wins)

I know a bunch of Europeans who do not like him one bit. He is a very good driver but as a team mate I would not trust him at all. After his McLaren antics in 2007 no other top team but Ferrari will employ him. He and Montezemolo make a good fit. From a sympathy point of view I rate Alonso in the bottom 20% of current F1 drivers.

Of course he has, I don't think anyone could have driven that Ferrari better. But the "turnaround" was Webber and Vettel not scoring a single point in Korea. Alonso needed the Red Bulls to get DNF's to stay in the title hunt.
Oh, and I don't think Vettels DNF was a mistake, just bad luck.

You all may not like him, and that is perfectly fine. I, for all you americans, hate Terrell Owens. No matter what he does, i will always hate him. But unfortunately, he is one of the best WRs.

I also seem to remember one of the greatest drivers ever being a complete dick to his teammate, and a dick in general, in 1989 as well as deliberately crashing into his former teammate in order to exact revenge AND claim the 1990 world title.

Senna is loved and named the greatest F1 driver of all time because of his drive, determination, speed, skills, inner fire, and ruthlessness to do anything he needed to get the job done. Everyone loves him for that, but at the same time you all hate Alonso and Schumacher? They are exactly the same types of people! What i really believe is happening is that you "I'm supporting not-Alonso" people really hate Ferrari and you let your hate for Ferrari determine which drivers you hate. Win with Ferrari or DOMINATE with Ferrari = hate. I read a book about Senna and it was rumored that he had a contract to drive for Ferrari and stated many times that he wanted to end his career in a Ferrari. Unfortunately he died before that, but had that happened, you all probably would have hated him as well.

BS, Alonso could be a 3 time WDC if he had decided to go to Brawn last year.. Brawn was willing to dump either Button or Rubens for ALonso at the end of 2008. The only reason he didn't go there was because he was waiting for the Ferrari offer..

Alonso has done brilliantly lately in putting pressure on Red Bull by declaring them big favourites before each race and playing down his own chances. I might be exaggerating, but I think that really affected the Bulls psychologically.

It is true that Alonso was offered the seat, but that was back when the operation was still called Honda and they were hardly considered a "top team" ... Honda had done nothing to earn themselves such an accolade, so it would have taken a leap of faith of biblical proportions before Alonso took a risk on Brawn.

Whether Alonso could have or even should have won in that car is beside the point. Even the achievements of the Brawn team are irrelevant. He didn't sign on the dotted line because the Honda team didn't have the record to be considered "top" of anything.

Would the latest management of the team formerly known as Honda hire him? That is a different matter.

Brawn and Haug would not even consider Alonso for a moment as long as there are drivers like Vettel or Rosberg in the market. You would have to make those guys #2 to Alonso to make him sign a contract and the German home market would be rioting against that. You can forget Alonso at Mercedes!

Alonso with his #1 attitude would have a problem with Mateschitz as well. And as long as Vettel is their focal point they will never consider Alonso.

McLaren is destroyed for Alonso. Ron Dennis would not let him anywhere near his cars as long as he lives.

Ohh you mean the win in Monza that came because of an mistake at the pitstop from Button?
And do you mean the win in Korea also where Vettel was leading pretty strongly and where if Webber didnt made that mistake he would have ended 3rd max?
Oh and that race in Germany where they had to incorporate team orders so the great almighty god of overtaking Alonso could get past Massa?
Ow yes, and then we havw Bahrain where a certain Vettel had an spark plug failure.
So you say Alonso won on his own strength? He had only made one win on his own strength and that was in Singapore, further they all where pure luck.

Speed helps as well, as Massa has shown. The F10 in Alonso's hands is a contender, in Massa's a mere upper midfield car.

Alonso needed help from lady luck, but he has done much to get to where he is. Putting his rise squarely on the shoulders of others mistakes means that he has made few when it counts while others have faltered.

In my case I never liked Ferrari for 3 reasons only, Schumacher, Ross and Todt.
Now that they are all gone I started to support them. To me its a like a completely different team..

The reason I mentioned it was because Ross has always said good things about Alonso and rates him as the best driver currently. IMO, I highly doubt that he thinks Rosberg is that good since the MS of today is not really a good barometer but since Mercedes are the ones calling the shots, then I would assume that they would have a preference for German drivers.
BTW, why would Alonso want to leave the most successful team of the past decade? - He's probably going to end his career at Maranello with lots of titles..

Oh, and by the way in 2007 Mateschitz was also after Alonso but they lost interest when he told him that he was looking for a one year deal and they wanted 3.
