Why not.?.I can expect a win from both Lewis or Alonso even when they don't have the best car of the grid..Button can win too if it rains and he pulls a great strategy call..

Not likely, that's the point. Saying 'Why not?' and speculating doesn't get us anywhere.

Given that the next two circuits will suit Red Bull then there's no reason they can't get 1-2s at those races.

Except that the Red Bulls have a tenancy to not always finish the race they started for various driver or reliability issues.

If it was only about outright pace, there is no reason a Red Bull or two shouldn't walk away.

^ If it wasn't due to this, Schumi would have been 2006 World Champion. It was another example of "what-if". My point is that we all can argue on a lot of what-if, but in the end, it is the total points that determines who is World Champion.

and if that lug nut would not have failed on Alonso's car in Hungary he would have beaten Schumacher by a bigger margin..

Party-time for all the not-Alonso supporters today. Your odds for clinching the WDC have greatly improved!

actually, the non-alonso odds decreased after this race, but let's not let facts get in the way.

I guess you're right. I just looked at the gap between him and Webber.

It depends. From Red Bull's perspective they just increased. If anything at all happens to Alonso then he's not going to be champion even if something happens to Webber or Vettel. The best he can hope for is third and even that will probably not be good enough, which is why he's dispensed with the finishing on the podium talk and is now talking about if he finishes second. The problem is that he's not in control of his own destiny.

Alonso is the only one who controls his own destiny. The rest of them are dependent on him not finishing top 2 for them to even have a chance.

I just realized that if Alonso wins next weekend, he will pull alongside Jackie Stewart, who also has 27 wins and 3 WDC's to his name.
