ah..almost but I acept it anyways.
Neweys first job in March (after declining to work for Ferrari !)was race enginneering
Danners F2 car in the european championchip.Danner was so much unimpressed by young Newey that he demanded a new engineer after one (!) race.this basically ended Neweys career in F2 and he was switched to the March GTP project... :-)

your turn!

little folklore about Newey...his first job in F1 was at Fittipaldi which went bust the same year .Harvey postlethwaite was the tech director there and wanted to take young newey with him to Maranello..Peter Warr was departing to lotus ...and wanted to take him there.. and he decided to go to March and learn from a broader view(F1,F2,Indycar,Sportscar etc..)..

Newey must have been taken by the charm of MrM then, wonder what the lure could have been?

If he'd went to Lotus then Lotus might still have been around. Senna might have even been champion in a Lotus.............

You lazy web-monging sob lot, I will go with folklore now, beware;

When the first Swedish GP was held in 1973 at Anderstorp, which is a nothing place in the middle of nothing, teams and drivers were located at a nearby lodging called "High Chaparall", stupid enough but true as I was there at the time.

The superstar of the time, Jackie Stewart, was professional enough to make a specific request for said lodging.

Whot did he ask for?

Those were the days marcush, I slept in a tent at "Smokey's camp" back in 1973, after hitch-hiking from my parents home just above the acrtic circle i Sweden, which I guess qualified me as an F1-geek already then and there?

Did you meet "Big Bengt" himself during your stay at High Chaparrall, or was he still imprisoned for tax-fraud at the time?

Anyways, JS had a specific request for his room at this somewhat odd lodging for the F1 circus, imagine that at this time when drivers having the amount of Mars bars and french sparklingwater included in their contracts, what was that?
