I still can't help but wonder how Vodafone would feel about an orange livery - their logo's wouldn't look great on it + Orange are their major competitor...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren
Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻♂️
I think they are more likely to swap to white/red i.e. vodaphone colours and drop the silver. Look at the changes to driver & team overalls last year, and the colours used in the new garages last year. It was all very White/Red/Black.

Didn't mclaren test in the orange colour once?
Maybe they didn't use it because of vodafone? In which case would count orange out for next year (im doing this quick so don't know when this was)
Well as we say the red/white was iconic for mclaren, i came across this on another forum
That is actually hurting my eyes, but that probably has more to do with the brightness & contrast used for that shopjob, rather than the livery itself ...
"Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine ..."
IIRC - Ron Dennis stated grey as his favorite color many years ago (even pre- Mercedes era)
as a side note Team Vodafone in the Australian V8Supercar Championship used silver/chrome and Vodafone red as livery as well, and there is zero Mercedes connection (Holden and before Ford).
Perhaps this is going to change if McLaren is changing it´s color scheme, to maintain a more uniform cooperate ID across the two Team Vodafone´s
Aynway, as for the reasons given by others, I would say it is highly unlikly that we will see a "orange" McLaren F1 car, as long as Vodafone remains their title sponsor.
A return to white/red would be a possibility - IMHO, perhaps a dark grey/anthracite base color as well.

Even if they still owen the shares they will sell them coming season.

Black livery? Er, no: the same Rocket Red & chrome finish that you've grown to love since Vodafone McLaren Mercedes was born in 2007...
