Renault R31

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

What about cooling or hot air distribution?
It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time

He means, at least I think he meant, that this airbox would look different and thicker when the engine cover (airbox's back shell) is mounted... I meant, with or without the engine cover, it will look the same, from that angle, hence the engine covers is in the airboxe's 'shadow'.

N12ck wrote:hi, from what I understand the engine cover makes a big difference for example : with shark fin it allows the airflow to be less turbulent towards the rear wing

the air intake appears skinnier than it used to be, however the KERS will need cooled as well so they must have larger sidepods or have another air intake maybe,

maybe the point of the skinnier air intake is to allow more air to the rear wing maybe to recover lost downforce from the current rules... IMO we can gurantee 1 thing, they wont have a similar mercedes air box from 2010.
have you mean that? can anyone make a scratch how maybe look new engine cover with skinnier airbox? or maybe a pic from f1 80's, 90's cars??

Sorry for the picture. I know it's not the best picture of the R30 rim. It's from 2010 Suzuka. To me the rims look the same and the only difference is the color which is black in R30 and is golden in R31. Brake caliper also seems to have been displaced.

It is the exact same wheel just diffirent colour.

I dont think the caliper i displaced. You cant see what wheel is in the picture but i dont think that i is the front-right wheel. To me it would nok make any sense to mount the caliper towards front away from the center of gravety.

Renault confirm the launch date ..
Renault have joined a growing list of teams set to reveal their 2011 car ahead of the year’s first pre-season test. The wraps will come off the R31 in Valencia on January 31, the day before testing gets underway at the Spanish circuit.

The new Renault will feature a black and gold livery following the team’s recent tie-up with Group Lotus, now the Enstone squad’s title sponsor. The car will be driven by the unchanged driver line-up of Poland’s Robert Kubica and Russia’s Vitaly Petrov.

Sauber, Toro Rosso and Ferrari have all confirmed they will launch their 2011 cars before the Valencia session, which runs from February 1-3 with all 12 teams expected to participate.

Hey! Sneak peak at the R31? Choose '4'. Use 'paus', It does'nt look like the R29 or R30! I think it is painted as well! It look slender and agressive! Beautiful!
