Valence panels and Brawn

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

I imagine they're trying to separate airflow inside the bodywork, but they've put paint in the hottest area, is this possibly just put there in the pits?

Not sure if they separate any airstreams, but they do act as exhaust heat shields and provide a smoother path of travel for the air exiting the radiators and out through the back of the car.

I assume they are CF panels, does anyone know if the silver color is a paint or thin metallic film?

You can get an idea of how beneficial they might be for providing a less restrictive path for the radiator exhaust in this image:

i guess it's the over-the-gearbox radiator exhausts of late that have brought this on.
That toyota one is interesting, it seems there's a duct dedicated to the oil cooler made just like the f-ducts.

Out of interest, I think that image is of a car used as a demonstrator. Note that the radiator has electric fans fitted to it, which obviously would be illegal under current regs. Perhaps it's a re-liveried BGP001?

Good spot on the Toyota image, I didn't notice that at 1st glance.

Thanks Scarbs. This seems to be what you were referring to: http://www.zircotec.com/page/composite_coatings/22
