It was lovely to hear him describing the final laps and that his team didn't tell him teh outcome until after he won the race, that's some cool man managemnt at the pit wall.

i thought it was quite special for Sebastian having the two prevoius WDC's on the podium with him.

And yes, the way red bull managed their race leader was text book stuff. They have really emerged as a really professional team that has shown the big boys how to participate in a sportsmanlike manner and with a smaller budget.

Ya, at the interview, you get the feeling that Button and Hamilton mindset would be "ya, I know how you feel (to be a world champion), I was there recently....".

On top of that, Hamilton would be thinking, "If my Mclaren is fast like your RedBull, I woop your arse anyday".

Button would be thinking, "congrats new kid... It looks like I will prove myself to be better than Hamilton next year using my clever strategic planning and close working relationship with my engineers".

and Vettel's mind would be "OMG! OMG!... lalalalala... I'm sooo happy, I can't believe this is happening...."

I just noticed how impressive Vettel's end of season stint was.
In a world without strategies, mechanical failures or weather lotteries, he would have had the pole and led every lap of the four last races (Japan, Korea, Brazil and Abu Dhabi).
He only lost the pole to Hulkemberg in Korea (he was back in the lead by the first corner), he only lost a race (again Korea) to an engine blow-up and he only lost the lead to people in different pit stop strategies (Button twice, Japan and Abu Dhabi and Webber for 1 lap in Japan) who never looked to be really ahead.

I follow F1 very closely and knew of Sebastian's plight last season. At one point, he was almost out of the championship running and few people would have bet on him. But Sebastian didn't give up. He fought until the end and he got it done. I watched him with respect and admiration -- greatly appreciating what he was doing. He was at the top of his game. It took concentration that was all-consuming. It took fierce determination and tenacity.

At the world class level, it truly is mind over muscle, mind over competition, mind over everything. That's why nobody deserves this trophy more than him. He is a perfect example of what this award is about. It's about someone who perseveres. Someone who fights until the last lap of the season. Even when the odds are against you, you believe in your heart you can get it done. That's a real champion. That's the spirit of this award and I can't wait to present it to Sebastian because I truly believe he deserves it.
