Ferrari the followers now.

Post

When was the last time Ferrari innovated worth something? Now other teams like McLaren, Red Bull, Renault are leading the way while all Ferrari can do is copy.

How about the integrated wheel ducting they introduced after the "bin lid" farings got banned?

Or that nosecose on the F2008. Simple fact is they're still quick, so who cares?

Not to mention all the behind the scenes stuff few people see.

And yeah, they're quick and certainly are going to win races... at the end of the season, that's what matters most.

this is not a competition of the most innovative and beautiful car :? It is about fast cars. Lats year the McLaren was labelled, "beautiful", "will be fast", "lots of room for development" , "innovative",ect, but at the end of the day it turned out to be nothing special....

I agree with all the replies on this thread. Having said that, conspiracy theories and waiting for that secret innovation is always exciting

Ferrari cant have "secret innovations" because when they do, everyone cries that they are against the rules. When they are deemed by the FIA to NOT be against the rules, people cry that the FIA is Ferrari Interational Assistance.

Either way, like people said above, it isnt about innovation, it is about being fast and reliable. We will see if that is the case for them this year.

Hmmm, I've really got to remember this thread.

It's gonna be useful the next time the forum is filled with those old "F1 is all about innovation, and cutting edge engineering, bla bla bla... Or "these new rules are making F1 go backwards bla bla bla..."

=D> Well put. Will this thread be ANOTHER pogrom against Ferrari?

You want a Ferrari "innovation"? How about the greatest team of individuals ever assembled -- the M Schu era. Seriously, whoever put that team together (Montezemolo?) was one of the greatest "human engineers" of all time.

Given his role in negotiating the transfer of those staff from Benetton to Ferrari, that accolade would probably go to Bernie ...

Ferrari aren't the ones famous for misusing the photocopier though :)

Also at the very end of the 2010 they introduced their newest innovation know as the "blown championship".

Lol, very good :)

But IMO I think a lot of others teams have tried different stuff a lot more, and come up with a lot more radical ideas than Ferrari over the past couple of years.

The slot on the nose was fairly radical, although nobody copied it, so to me it wouldn't count. But that's just the way I think :)

Ferrari have yet to demonstrate that they are able to compete by good engineering instead by pure superiority of budget and resources. I don't believe they can. When they are on the same resources as the other teams in 2012 they will fall back behind Mercedes. At least that is my reading of the situation.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)
