The point is that the various engines are all slightly different. Two engines making the same power will not necessarily produce the same amount of waste heat.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

So why does VW's four banger turbo fill you with dread? It doesn't even exist yet nor does the appetite for from VW at large. What makes VW special that Ferrari Renault and mercedes cannot achieve?
You are putting such strong rhetoric to them joining and assuming they will be with red bull and another assumption that their engine will be top notch.... Like Renaults.....
More could have been done.

Interesting interview with Horner.

Christian Horner: The man who gave wings to Red Bull's F1 dreams
"And yet, amid all the hoopla and the satisfaction of rearing a champion, there was Webber to consider...

On the Monday Dietrich sent his plane to collect us, and when we arrived in Salzburg he was waiting on the tarmac to greet us, with senior members of the company. That evening, with all of Red Bull Austria there, Mark got a standing ovation, which I think really touched him. We visibly saw his spirits lift."
And that, my friends, is what makes a friend a friend.
