What the hell were they testing here http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php ... 3&comments that made the engine sound like that? It sounds like a very high revving turbo engine from the turbo era...

Same type of system Renault has, could be the exhaust setup that makes it sound differently then Renault.

I remember Massa trying this out last year at Singapore aswell.

He had a Kers fault (or he pressed button by mistake) than Hydraulics fault the left him stranded at the pitlane entry. I think that might have had some effect.

Can a KERS problem make the engine sound that awkwardly?

Could be a different engine - Ferrari vs Renault and totally different exhaust setups - front exhaust vs more traditional.

It'll just be a different engine mapping that they were testing. Quite clearly very aggressive off-throttle overrun.

It didn't appear for the rest of the weekend, so they've obviously not reached the results they wanted from it, versus the negatives attributed with such a setup.

He is right about Massa... i remember they were testing a new engine map at Singapore on his car and the engine stalled while they were testing it... but it didn't sound the way Alonso's car sounded in Turkey.

I'm not talking about engines stalling, rather about the sound. I don't remember Massa's sounding differently, but feel free to refresh my memory and include any links related to that, what i do recall is his car problems in quali. What i'm talking about is what is mentioned here:

Anyone who stood trackside in Singapore will tell you that the McLaren exhaust note sounded very strange on the over-run, this is another key battleground in the tech race which never sleeps.

I can´t find any video on that but Massas engine did sound pretty similar to what it did in Practice at Turkey.

Hehe, so now i'm ignorant because i chose not to blindly believe you? that's ok, however if i were you I would reevaluate my forum behavior. Usually when you claim something to be true it's a good idea to back it up with facts, if on the other hand you simply choose to believe in something then that's ok, just don't expect others to follow your blind faith

The car did sound rough as hell at Singapore, it's very easy for you to look up this i stead of simply saying i'm lying or try to persuade me i to thinking it was a mclaren.

No it didn't sound rough. But I think that you could easily prove me wrong as "it's very easy for you to look up this i stead of simply saying it's true"
