It really does look like a Cosworth backed initiative. Perhaps Williams being FIA poster boys, where happy to have written the letter that Charlie Whiting recieved last week. But I feel there is more to it than Williams just wanting a "rule clarification".

To me, I would say Cosworth was waving the white flag and got its teams onside to play hardball.

It seems Williams asked for clarification - nothing wrong with that - and Charlie Whiting then scratched his head and thought "wait a minutes" as the penny dropped with an almighty thud.

I doubt if Whiting has the mandate to issue a mid-season ban just like that, the decision must have come from higher up, no?

Perhaps it was Williams asking for clarification, but I believe that Mercedes was part of getting the ban så promptly.

The idea that Jean Todt would risk upsetting the top end of the grid, including Ferrari, with an unprecedented mid-season ban just in order to satisfy Williams and Cosworth is rather implausible to xpress it politely.

Perhaps it was Williams asking for clarification, but I believe that Mercedes was part of getting the ban så promptly.

The idea that Jean Todt would risk upsetting the top end of the grid, including Ferrari, with an unprecedented mid-season ban just in order to satisfy Williams and Cosworth is rather implausible to xpress it politely.

If i'm not mistaken, I think Ferrari and Jean Todt had a falling out around 2007 so, Ferrari won't be expecting any favors.

Sadly, Cosworth are not the force they once were and are probably struggling to get an overrun system to work properly. It's a bit sad really...
