Farrari's high rear wing

Post

Alonso insisted: “The important thing is that no one comes to Monaco with something similar and they are allowed to use it.”
Is it possible they knew that tam like RBR or MC is working on this concept, and introduced it only to make FIA ban it? :wtf:

It isnt particualrely illegal, the way it was done was illegal. It was deemed illegal because the slot gap wasnt 20cm apart, which is required per rules. So if others find a way around that it will be legal.

So, if they bring almost the same wing, but with 20cm slot gap it'll be legal?

I believe that they'll release a clarification that the slot gap separator will only be allowed to run along the length of the profile, rather than across the width (as is seen in this case).

They'll have to word the regulation extremely carefully to avoid opening any loopholes, but a maximum width of each slot gap separator when viewed from the front should be sufficient IMHO.

I'd assume the clarification will also add the slot-gap generator within the maximum rear wing height.

I was under the impression this was what Whiting used as the reason for banning Ferrari's innovation. The wing was 10mm too tall with their interpretation.
