Who wins and who loses in the EBD ban.

Post

With HRT threatening to appeal should any one run off throttle EBD's at Monaco, who stands to win or lose in a theortical ban?

RBR seems to have the most effective one so maybe them. But then again we don´t know which engine manufacturer it is who has the most effective one.
The truth will come out...

Charlie has basically declared them illegal already. The only thing he told the teams was that he would delay/give them time to change. Doesn't mean HRT wouldn't be correct if they protest. FIA trying to give second tier ala Max opportunity to compete and to cause infighting within FOTA.

McLaren lose expecially with their Octopus project which, if off-throttle is banned, can be put in the WC without fears.

How to lose winter testings around a system that they can't never race again (because of the ban).

Yes,

I would concur that Mclaren would lose due to the vaunted octopus exhaust being banned. Given that they expected to gain 0.7- 1 second from it.
I wonder if that is just Hype?

the manufacturers will seek clarification before qualy and if there is a threat of getting kicked out they will not use it.
I´m urging to see what RBR7 is worth without it.. my fear is Mercedes does need the exhaust plume to keep the flow attached around their sidepods and that may kick their concept into the bin .

I'm surprised a vote is needed – observing who is campaigning to have it banned should tell you all you need to know about who it benefits to have it banned.

There was some leanings toward mercedes being behind the ban, due to them benefiting.

The ironic thing about Whiting's ruling is: The ignition retard etc. is designed to prevent a change in aerodynamic characteristics with diver movement. Without the ignition retard, moving the throttle changes downforce(i.e. no exhaust off throttle,so downforce changes). While, with the current hot blown systems, moving the throttle is not supposed to effect downforce. So Charlie's ruling breaks the rule his ruling is supposed to protect from being broken. Okay I'm done with the goofy circular logic now.

Anywhere near a full second would be a bananas figure to claim IMO. Half a second would even be substantial but more believable.

They must feel if they master the system they can match the Red Bull pace in qualifying. Which is seven tenths they are behind. You will say it has been closer but the Red Bunk Kers doesn't always work.

I want to speculate but I just got told off for that from a mod. A ban will be placed if I do, so from now I will only post facts. I do wonder wether the mods will apply that same yardstick to everyone however. Oh dear Im off topic...ban looms!
