We should all give it to Vettel for being able to run his prime tyre for so long and still be able to hold Alonso behind him. Smart thinking by him and the team after missing out the pit during SC.

Can't wait for Lewis to actually do as he promises and just keep his mouth shut.

Hats off to Vettel again, this time for not breaking under the pressure. Being on pole also certainly helped, and that was a very good lap indeed..
Yeah, yeah. But is he a GENIUS? No, he isn't. He hasn't said so. Duh.

And why should he shut up? That drool you see coming out is actually GENIUS GOLD. Liquid, but gold. Oh, my, he's so cute with his little tiny beard!

I do not even know why the race was restarted, the rules state that if the race is red flagged when over 75% of the race distance is completed, the race will not be continued. This was far, far over this 75%
2011 Sporting Regulations.PDF no longer hold the 75% rule. It took a lot of people (journalists, commentators & fans) by surprise.

5.3 states a Championship event must be at least 305km (260km in Monaco) or a max of 2hrs long.

As for red flag races, Article 41 has the guidelines for this. Again, no mention of 75% rule.
The closest we now have is:
42.8 If the race cannot be resumed the results will be taken at the end of the penultimate lap before the lap during which the signal to suspend the race was given.

Well, to be honest he (and Red Bull) fooled me alright. I was sure he would pit again and end up behind Button, with Alonso then being the GENIUS as he looked more likely to make it to the end from where he pitted. It was just fascinating watching the three of them, even without any changes in the order. Don't care what would have / could have / should have happened, it was a grand finale to the most spectacular Monaco race we 've had for years, despite the Red Flag and restart.

A furious Lewis Hamilton criticised the stewards after being penalised during the Monaco Grand Prix for colliding with Felipe Massa.

Hamilton is also under investigation for a later collision with Pastor Maldonado.

Hamilton said afterwards: “Out of six races I’ve been to the stewards five times. It’s a joke. It’s an absolute fricking joke.

“You know you can’t overtake here. Very, very rarely do you get an opportunity.

“I was quite a lot quicker than Massa, I went up the inside and the guy just turned so early and just turned into me so I tried to go onto the kerb to avoid him, and we’re stuck together.

“So it was just… and of course I get a penalty which is usual. He held me up in qualifying and I got the penalty. He turned into me, and I got the penalty.

“And I went up the inside of Maldonado and you can see on the screen he turned in a good car length too early to stop me from overtaking him and crashed into me. This stuff’s ridiculous. These drivers are absolutely fricking ridiculous, it’s stupid.”

Asked why he has had so many penalties he joked: “Maybe it’s because I’m black – that’s what Ali G says! I don’t know.

He denied it was affecting his driving: “No, it’s not affecting my confidence as a driver.

“I just think the sport is… you know, people want to see my racing, they want to see overtaking, and you get done for trying to overtake, trying to put on a show. I’m trying to make a move.

“Fair play if I really feel I’ve just gone too late and hit someone, I put my hand up and realise, OK, I really have caused an incident and been the stupid one, but it’s not the case.

“I’ll just try to keep my mouth shut and enjoy the rest of the season which, I’m sure, is going to be an interesting one, but as you can see he’s walking away with it.”

He denied the result has ended his championship chances, saying: “No, it’s never too late, but it’s not looking great.

“I gave it my all today and the team did a great job to get the car back out and get it fixed for the last few laps.”

And could this be the answer to why he is so frustrated and getting a bit desperate?

Nah. Button didn't put a foot wrong today. He was robbed of a likely win because of the first safety car. Hamilton went apes--t today and should be reprimanded.
Button was holding back. He could have took Vettel.
The team were telling him repeatedly to overtake, he kept laying back without even an attempt.
Compara to Alonso who tried even on older tyres than Button.

Button is softy man. For once Vettel should have lost today. Button had the pace but didn't have the balls.
For Sure!!

Some quick calculation...
The timing screens showed hamilton being 0.0 behind Maldonado, so the worst case was that he was 0.049 seconds behind. Given that the cars are doing about 130mph there, that's about 2.8m. Given that the cars are about 5 metres long, that means that hamilton was at worst half a car length behind at the start/finish line, with the DRS flap open and a more powerful engine. That seems to back up that he was 3/4 of the way along side maldonado.

Edit: my bad, ofc the DRS wasn't open, but still, clearly a better run.

The Team had informed Button that Vettel's tires were about to go off the cliff in 2-3 laps, then the red flag came out. He was just waiting for the right moment. As opposed to crashing into everyone and collecting penalties...

This is funny. Out of the top three, who didn't drive a faultless race? Driving-wise it's undoubtedly Vettel who deserves the win for driving 50+ laps on soft compound, under pressure from Button then Alonso. Had it not been RBR's pit screw-up, it would have been a plain and simple pole-to-win for SV.

Really? Button made up 20 seconds on him, are you saying he wouldn't have made up 25, and then gained track position when Vettel stopped for softs? As far as I'm concerned, it was button that drove flawlessly, and got hamstrung by Vettel getting 2 free pit stops.
