What Would Grid Look Like...

Post

...if teams had to take part in old style "Non Championship" races and wernt allowed to put in their "Championship" drivers into their cars??

I have so far came up with a grid like this:

01/02: Red Bull-Renault = Daniel Riccardo/Jean-Eric Vergne
03/04: McLaren-Mercedes = Oliver Turvey/Lewis Williamson
05/06: Ferrari = Jules Bianchi/Daniel Zampieri
07/08: Mercedes GP = Sam Bird/Christian Vietoris
09/10: Lotus Renault = Romain Grosjean/Jan Charouz
11/12: Williams-Cosworth = Valtteri Bottas/Dani Clos
14/15: Force India-Mercedes = Antonio Felix da Costa/Yelmer Buurman
16/17: Sauber-Ferrari = Esteban Gutiérrez/Fabio Leimer
18/19: STR-Ferrari = Mirko Bortolotti/Carlos Sainz, Jr.
20/21: Team Lotus-Renault = Davide Valsecchi/Luiz Razia
22/23: Hispania-Cosworth = Josef Král/Michael Herck
24/25: Marussia Virgin-Cosworth = Robert Wickens/Mikhail Aleshin

Id like to see how many wrecks would be after that race, would be full of incedent for the race stewards!!!

Paffet deffinately, and Senna is missing from Renault. I'd expect to see Chandhok there too.

How awesome would it be if they actually did this? Great for young drivers if they had a non-championship race just after the end of the regular season...

Well, in the dream world posited, anyone who attended would be a real enthusiast, because those "name" drivers would not draw a crowd! Being a reserve driver does not provide the path to the top that it once did. Remember when there were test drivers, and they actually got to drive the cars?

Non-championship races were regular events throughout the 60s, but with the teams' front line drivers behind the wheel. Also quite a few independents with year-old F1 cars and abominations like Cooper chassis with Ferrari V12 from a road car . . .

Well if you wanted to attract the crowd with some 'name' drivers I would put Sebastien Loeb in a Red Bull, Valentino Rossi in a Ferrari, Jorge Lorenzo in the Mercedes and probably Bruno Senna and Marco Andretti in the Renault and thats just to name a few, could be a good charity event and fun.

Danica Patrick, Jeff Gordon and some more NASCAR guys as well.

Suzie Stodart in a Williams too.

I was just making a quick grid with GP2/WSBR/GP3 guys but the likes of the above mentioned would totally make a massive draw for a "Non Championship" race or two.

Hey and lets throw in the the normal GP drivers as stewards for good measure, lets see how they handle a race where people will probably make basic errors, too bad this won't happen until one of us becomes part of the FIA board :(

Hamilton and Alonso on the same stewards pannel. Even better, Sutil and Trulli would be evtertaining. But would become stupid after a while.

Christian Klien in the RB7 would win the WDC, and RBR would win the WCC only racing a second car at European Races piloted by "The Ant" :x ](*,)
