Braking telemetry during F1 broadcasts

It kinda does actually... Okay it doesn't really tell you how much the car is slowing down, but it does tell you how much the driver is requesting it to slow down. In the same way as the throttle pedal position doesn't actually tell you how high the engine is revving – it tells you how much the driver is asking for go-faster.
When Mark Webber - a fairly large lad - applies a 2000N force to the brake pedal he is not necessarily requesting the car to stop as much as when Felipe Massa applies a 2000N brake force to the brake pedal. The amount of force applied to the braking pedal only makes sense if you have extensive knowledge about the setup of the braking system on the car.

I stand corrected.

It was an interesting tidbit I ran across on the F1 website, and as it relates to the discussion on the first page of the thread, I thought it would be of interest here.
