De La Rosa in a Sauber?

Post

Pedro is a Mclaren employee, so why is he in a Sauber? :o

Seems awfully odd to have a reserve driver, who isn't a reserve because another team's reserve is :?

I heard something about Gutierrez having an exam of some sort... can't remember the source, sadly.

Probably the easiest source for them as they have his set up data and his data from 2010. Estaban Guiteriez is in Mexico for a prior engagement as he would be there for them.

Seemingly McLaren are now packing Garry Paffett on a Montreal plane incase anything happens to their drivers, as you just never know now with saftey.

However, it has just shown the lack of a "non compete" rule in F1 for any head injury. I know for a fact that Football has a 3 week non compete rule for a player with a head injury that involves a major impact. Broken jaws are usually 2 weeks out, and a broken cheek bone is usually 4 days out, but is being looked into as the players have to play with a mask on.

I think its about time that if there is a major crash like what Chico had at Monaco where there is a major stop, the driver has a mandated 3 or 4 weeks out the car and can only return once he has passed a medical test where he has to do say 30 laps arround a track in one of the Pirelli-Toyota TF109s for example on the super softs.

Call it F1s fitness test for a GP.

I have doubts not he will be ready for Valencia, one more race out the car could be what he needed to fully recover for Silverstone.

+1

Its also good that Checo can see he's not ready, takes a real man to do that and not put his life or any other persons at risk.

Seems like Sauber had no intention of using Esteban though, come one don't hire a test driver if you aren't going to use them.

A shame a young up-and-comer couldn't get a look. Not opposed to de le Rosa, but he has no future, no "upside." We need more new blood.

Found it cool to see him be with McLaren overalls on in the Sauber, he must have had a super err ooze of confidence!

I would ignore that tosh. Estaban Guiteriez was not in Canada.

Bianchi was the first choice of Sauber, but Ferrari didn't allow him to replace Perez... so they went to McLaren for De la Rosa.
