Re: Site maintenance next weekend (15/7-16/7)

Post

Post at will wesley, anything that could remotely help is welcome!
I'm baffled by this problem and I now have it as well, whereas previously things were fine on my computer.

I know it's intermittent, mostly happening on the homepage. I checked apache logs and it happens on other urls too, but very rarely. As I see it in the logs with apache returning 404's, it also has nothing to do with caching or proxies whatsoever, something I thought was causing this when I first saw it.

I am really sorry for the trouble and hope people will find their way back to f1t after getting the infamous blank page now for a day or two even.

I tried to open the site with <index.html> specified as the file to open (don't know actually what type and name is the default). And this is what I get:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

If I enter only <www.f1technical.net> I get absolutely blank screen and not a single line of code is loaded.

indeed, I took a look at the errors with Opera 11.11 here, returns absolutely nothing. Also what i noticed when looking at the source, it is completely blank. When I 'inspect the webpage' it only shows the html <head> and <body> tags, the two tags required for an page, so my quick guess is; I would say the page you load when typing in 'f1technical.net' is somehow referenced twice.

What I would do at the moment, since you seem a bit lost Tomba, I would just place the previous version back for a while. That gives you the time to work on it and fix mistakes. I wouldnt say it bothers that much since you arent really looking to any critical functions right now that are fixed with the new version.

You can then just work on the website and maybe test it in an VM for example.

I tried with both Chrome and the latest IE and still got nothing but 404.

Also delete all history and blah from IE and still get nothing.

I'd suggest to go to the older version or redirect to the forum and put a sticky notifying the problem. That way you want lose your views.

Does it work when you try http://www.f1technical.net/index.php ?

Looks like apache logs "GET request contains invalid URI".

Right, no solution yet then :( Sorry guys.

I'm off to bed but have requested support to look into it. I'll post back as soon as I know something more.

When I call the wrong file (index.html) the page and the controls are displayed and then the 404 error message (because the file really is missing).
Every button on the menu bar with the exception of "HOME" is working.
Although in the console we see error 404 not found, it is not displayed as Apache should do in case of a missing or invalid file.

It seems it throws everything at the very beginning.
Might it be an external reference or link which causes this (sporadic) behavior?

Edit: The Gallery button is not working and throws the same error message as the one I get with "index.html"

It's working now. I enabled PHP error displaying on the homepage.
Please post any error messages if you see them ASAP here.

Thanks

No change since last night. I've changed the bookmark to point to the forum directly and when I click on "HOME" still get a blank page.
See what's on the error console of my browser.

http://www.f1technical.net still gives a full screen 404.

.../index.html gives the home page but with a 404 error in the window as with dragonfly's post.
