Post

This shows once more why I needed to get rid of the old gallery system.
Gallery solved now?

I changed a few more bits, homepage works for me now.
EDIT: nevermind, I still see homepage errors popping up...

I'm getting a blank homepage in Firefox and Explorer. Also, in the all cars ever database, I get a blank page for any cars from 2007-2011.

Hope it stays that way...

Note that the gallery now is not working, and that images within the car pages aren't working either. I will sort that out on thursday when I promote the gallery3 test version and ditch the currently gallery.

Thanks a lot for your help guys =D>

(and of course, report errors related to blank pages and the gallery here)

Post

Old gallery system is now officially ditched.

Results:
- less than half the CPU load on the server processor
- Quicker page parsing
- A bunch of new pictures of the German GP after a long while without new photos!

Things will improve further, but one major burden that also caused the downtime during the car launches in January is now officially out of the way ;)

One has to have an account at some sort of social network or google in order to 'like' something. :?

Why can't we have our 'own' button for liking pics, articles, etc?

You know these buttons, they are really just sharing buttons to spread the word.
Do you want vote-up buttons added to the gallery for members to rank images?

No don't worry it's not a big deal. But it just makes it difficult for people without those type of accounts to participate, either way though, I think we're a minority. :)
