A paperboard Red Bull RB7

Post

Hello Guys!

After the disaster of my Red Bull RB6 - there were too much mistakes in that car - i decided to built it's successor, the RB7. When I built the RB6, i learned a lot about modern Formula 1 cars and that new knowledge i can use in the manufacturing process of this car.

Here are the first pictures of the monocoque. It's very robust. I took 4 layers of 0,5mm cardboard, each with a 90° angle to each other and a 0,3mm black cardboard for the internal coating. And with the external blue layer, which will come in a few days, the thickness of my Monocoque structue will be around 2,7mm (the FIA reglement dictate a minimum thickness of 25mm - in my scale of 1 to 10th are that 2,5mm).

I checked your RB6 thread first. You sir, are most definitely nuts. It must've taken an insane amount of work. And this one looks even better (a lot better, actually!).

Red Bull should just hire you man. Hell, if one can build the 1/10 scale with paper, it's entirely plausible that he/she'll be able to build the real thing from carbonfibre :)

Thank you guys!

Here is an tremendous update of my paperboard Red Bull RB7.
The monocoque is already finished, only a few electrical devices in the sidepods and the main brake cylinders and its fluid reservoir are missing.

That part of the car took me about 110 hours!! Maybe you could imagine, how long it will take to finish the whoe car with engine, gearbox, underbody, engine-cover, ect..

The whole story, poorly in german, you could see here:

Hello guys!

Today I started with the Renaut RS27 engine.

On this two pictures, you could actually see, how small the engine of a modern Formula 1 car is.

Where do you get the technical drawings from? Have you scaled from pictures? Also the images in the F1 tech rules must be very useful too?

Yeah, the drawings in the technical regulations are very helpful. All the drawings I made by myself with help from the technical reglement and many pictures. They should be relatively accurate.
