Sizes of internals of F1 cars

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Sizes of internals of F1 cars

Does anyone know the dimensions of the average F1 V8 engine + Gearbox ?

I have searched all over the internet so I thought maybe someone may have the sizes on here

Many Thanks

you could take the wheel base measurements from the mclaren using a profile view of the car, comparing that to an arbitrary dimension (the rear wing size) then use that relationship to determine an approximation from the Mclaren launch photos?

Or you could just as easily guestimate

The technical regulations specify a lot of the engine gearbox dimensions. For more detailed engine dimension race engine technology magazine quoted a lot of sizes of the Toyota v8, their website is highpowermedia.com

I recommend a look at Pauls RB7 thread in off topic chat. He uploaded his drawings and talks about dimensions of the engine in there.

There VERY useful.

Hi, i went with a rough idea of sizing by using pictures of cars and using dimensions i know and estimating them, it worked well, but i just need to get another source of measurements for accuracy

Thankyou Tozza it is very useful
