Which was the first (reportedly) scaled down 3.0 V10 F1 engine, that weighed in at (reportedly) less than 100 kg?

What do you mean by scaled down? Like shrunk from a 12 to a 10 cylinder, or what?

Not at all, this engine marked the beginning of a new generation of smaller and lighter 3.0 V10 powerplants.

normally my money would be with the illmor guys who were inspired by the developers of the initial Toyota Indy engine which was a complete flop but sooo light...as mounted in dan Gurney MKV eagles...which were also useless junk ..unfortunatelly.

I think you remember the engine Yamaha built for Zakspeed but that was V8...

I'm sorry gentlemen, this engine made it's debut in 1994, why it was a 3.5 V10 of course.

Hint; The valve-cover badging does not necessarily mean the actual builder.

I meant the Judd JV aka Yamaha OX11 from 1996.

And correct you were matt, it was indeed the Yamaha OX11A, which in 1996 basically re-wrote the rules of engine design.

However fragile, it was xtremely light and nimble, built by John Judd.

That was Damon Hill's engine in the Arrows, was it not? John Barnard as Technical Director run bu Tom Walkinshaw with a nifty engine. Pity they couldn't have kept going.

Problem was that the original 1997 car was designed by Frank Dernie, who didn'really trust the tiny engine as a fully stressed member, why he strangely xtended the monocoque over it in order to support the rear.

Dernie was shown the door early on when the front wing came off, why Walkinshaw replaced him with Barnard who almost made a winner of it in Hungary, if it wasn't for a bonded washer hydraulic seal failure, which left Damon stuck in fourth, lost the race to JV.

I imagine any principal would be worried about a star driver getting too familiar with another team, especially Ron because he is known to be keep tight control on his teams.

I guess you have something more specific, so how about ..... Lots of rich Italian food added to Senna's weight? or perhaps a glass of wine before jumping in the car?
