Tom Cruise and David Coulthard drive RBR cars (promo runs)

Hi everyone,

Has anyone seen those promo videos from Redbull in Austin Texas? I watched the Tom Cruise one and I notice the high periscope exhaust system on the red bull car.

Looks like me like Red Bull is using this opportunity to test their 2012 car.

thats an older car, note the low front nose and the v tunnel along the top. thats why its got the periscope exhaust.

Are you sure? I just went through some searches, Both RB6 and 7 have the exhaust diffuser system. The top exhaust system was found in RB5 but not a periscope like design.
Finally, RB4 was the old generation aero rule car.

That's an RB5 with a "show car" exhaust. You can see it in all of their demos whenever they do demos that they've modified it to be that way.

Look at rear wing. This , together with other aspects such as exhausts, indicate that this is quite an old car. Maybe an RB£. But imagine the damage to the engine due to dust inhalation!

Tom Cruise didn't drive in Austin. That was in California the week before RBR came to Austin (at Willow Springs?)

The bottom video is from Austin. I was present for two of the shoots. It was very cool.

Yes. It was DC. He was very personable and engaging with the crowd in Austin.

It's an RB1 cosworth engines used in the show cars as mentioned in many articles. they've updated the bodywork etc to make it look more like the current car but the underpinnings are RB1

I wonder if the brakes have been replaced with a more conventional solution. I seriously doubt Cruise could handle carbon-carbon brakes. Further, it would be a pain for DC to try manage the heat in carbon carbon brakes during a donut/demo run.
