Welcome to the forums Peter. Or I think you're new, anyways. I think that's one of their strengths; they're not really affected by any outside influences; and they execute their German efficiency and systematically bang in results.

Meanwhile the Spanish have a siesta, the finns are to drunk to attend, the British go on strike, the Aussie breaks a bone (again)and anyone who's left crashes their rally car (sorry Kubica)

Hi and Thank you and yes I am a newbie from sunny England.
It's a bit like watching the Germans play football as we did in the last World Cup; so strong, no weaknesses and very disciplined. I can only guess that is part of their culture.

Having said that about Germans I miss a good Finnish interview from an F1 driver. Forget Heikki; his interviews aren't very Finnish :P

Give me something like Hakkinen would've done

What a boring waste of tv time that Mika Hakkinen. I don't see the appeal in finnish style interviews.
Complete bore. If i were a sponsor i wouldn't see the benefit in having this guy get camera time to talk like he's still sleeping.

Much prefer someone more animated. Kimi is another one of those boring drivers to listen to. He's only interesting if he says something rude.

Now for Vettel, he's too predictable and PR nowadays:

"All in all a good wace"
"Yah, it was amazink"
"We have pole, but the points are given out tomorrow"

"the wace was quite tough, we struggled a little bit with the tyres on the first stint, but the car kept getting better and better"
"All in all..."

I can basically create Vettel interviews off the top of my head becuase he's so predictble nowadays.
For Sure!!

Do bear in mind that English is a foreign language to him. If you looked back at the press conferences and interviews he gave in 2009 he couldn't even speak English properly yet; for example:

Sometime people just think that English is the mother tongue of the universe.

we cant really blame Vettel's interview for being predictable if journalists are always asking him the same question. It will definitely help if some other drivers start taking poles, wins and championship from the young german.

Ringo, surprise you didnt say you are sick of listening to the german national anthem (yet)

wonder if Ringo can speak German....
Generally I don't care about what people say. I have to be clear with myself. When everything goes well, people celebrate you, when you make mistakes people criticize you.

Wow, it was just an "impression" which is a joke...that IS what he sounds like. So what if English isn't his first language? It's impressive that any of those guys can talk about technical aspects of racing with a secondary language. I'm sure everyone here appreciates that. You all should lay off of ringo...sheesh. His main point was that Vettel says the same thing everytime he is on camera. But I do agree with CHT that it's not entirely Vettel's fault if the press keep asking him the same questions.

The drivers are always asked the same questions all day, no wonder they sound bored and repetitive.

Vettel was completely different in the post race conversation with the BBC about 45 mins after the finish. He was chatting as he would if he was talking to his mates.

I am learning in my spare time. I speak ze german very vwell you see.

But it doesn't matter; english is ze language. If you can't speak it, you better learn.

It's easier for non english speakers to learn english than english speakers to learn their language.

If we had the wealth of our TV programs, movies and books in german, it would be quite easy to learn it.
You must realize that these guys are exposed to english more than we are exposed to their language. Especially racers who race in england most of their lives.

Vettel's english is more controlled than mine, but it doesn't excuse him from saying the same things over. He can be quite funny when he wants to.

He should do a sieg heil! the next time he wins.
"hail vicotry!" It would be the equivalent of "it's because i'm black".

I think we are getting out of topic here. English or no English, it doesnt really matter as long as Vettel continues to grab pole position, wins, podium fnishes and most importantly championships.
