Really? And all those drivers were MUCH closer to Schumacher than Jos and managed to occasionally beat him.

We have maybe now 100-200 young drivers competing in various 2nd tier formula, all competing for the 24 spots available in Formula 1,
Not true,,,Not all of them can buy a seat,,and these days,,that's what you have to do.
Really sorry so many can not face the truth

And look who buys a seat -- Maldonado, Perez, Petrov, Senna (actually we can put Alonso/Santander in that category) -- all were pretty good or even excellent in lower formulae. Nowadays the pay-driver is not some rich fellow who comes to F1 to entertain himself, these days a "pay-driver" is actually a very quick young racedriver, who's value is recognized by sponsors.

I don't have to "believe" it. I see it.
Prove that the guys I mentioned are not quick.

PS, and I well remember the days of Belmondo/Deletraz

You mean money can somehow make you quicker?
The guys I named may not be THE very best, but they are clearly AMONG the very best. How is better? Please show.

Maldonado shouldn't be any where near an F1 car. It took him 4 seasons to win GP2. Hulkenberg, who doesn't have finance behind him, is better and beat him when they were teammates.

Verstappen said something like this "When I drove Schumachers car, it was undrivable."

Yes for him!

Schumacher was the fastest back then. No discussion about that!
We've seen identical things afterwards too. Irvine couldn't drive Ferrari, Barichello couldn't drive it either, Massa too. Those top cars were drivable only by his greatness.

Since he came back, and since cards are not marked like before, his teammate is beating him for the second consecutive season. It says more about the credibility of his 7 titles than it does about his teammate, doesn't it?
It says more about the lack of your intelligence. The man is a 42 year old guy faced with a bundle of new rules. Besides his race pace has been far superior to Rosberg, who is probably one of the fastest pure race & the best qualifier in the grid ahead of Vettel. That Mercedes is not within 1s off pile time in Abu Dhabhi or Brazil.

A very nice comparison as both had a full season in the same team against a same teammate. And from that I can't see Hulk MUCH better than Maldonado. He might have an edge, but not like it is as clear cut as you describe.

Interesting how this topic has derailed from Schumacher using tc in 1994, which when subsiquent posts proved that it is to be just launch control software and no hardware.. So the haters now turn to Schumacher's 2010 and 2011 ....blah blah Britney beating him blah blah
Fangio 40 yr old etc ...Mario in 53 won something
And they conveniently forgot at 42 Schumacher won the ROC nations cup with equal cars against some of his current f1 rivals
Seriously guys keep to the topic.....if you guys want a bash thread please create one naming "I hate Schumy"

They also forget that Schumacher is not actually doing that badly against Rosberg at the moment...

Against Rosberg, together in the race, Schumacher usually beats him. Rosberg actually beat Schumacher this year by qualifying better and having fewer car failures and collisions. I actually think Rosberg is really enjoying it, they make very fine rivals.

Verstappen should have made his stupid comments in the summer of 2010. He missed the boat. It's true Schumacher isn't whupping Rosberg and if that was going to happen it would have happened by now. But he's doing fine.

Let's not forget also, that current breed of fast drivers (Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, Rosberg etc) are all trained at much higher level (fitness-wise and general training-wise) than 20 years ago, and that is thanks to Schumacher's success.
It's like every newer generation of sportsman is pushing things farther.

exactly, but I don;t believe he is actually slow. I know that the car he is driving is nowhere near what he needs to be competitive. As much as Brawn and Schumacher are saying that the car suits both drivers, it is very much an understeerer and that something Rosberg is better able to live with. Watch chumacher behind the wheel and you see him constantly trying to balance the car through getting the rear to break away and applying throttle to keep it moving with the front. It slows him down.
He is trying to drive car that is actually a bus.

Its still very much a Button car. I uspect the W03 will be the first car designed to suit the more neutral attitude required by Rosberg and the more pointy attitude required by Schumacher
