Lotus E20 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Could go back to the 'T' naming scheme, Type 012A anyone?

maybe dare I say it, they may recognize the constructor 'Lotus' has been in f1, and call it the T129 ? they called the exos T125 and they allowed Lotus Racing to be called T127 (which was backed by this Lotus), however they may not accept the T128 existed and may call it the T128 or T129?

OR Maybe put the T after the name like the 97T,

Maybe the 12T? however there will be a problem, eventually you will be renaming the chassis the same as the old ones, So maybe the 012T?

I don't see why it would be 2011 pre-season, it looks nothing like the R31. Still, I doubt they would let photographers take a picture or their most prized possession so early on. I would think that that model might be for calibrating the wind tunnel, or for research to see what, if any, are the benefits of the skinny nose. I highly doubt the R32 will look ANYTHING like that!

If it does though, that would be one sexy beast....

I really hope they change the livery for 2012.
I hope they keep the JPS scheme but tidy it up a bit with much thinner stripes.
I also hope they use proper gold paint for the stripes and not that awful cream colour they switched to part way through the season.
Any idea why they changed from gold to cream?
The livery on the R31 was gag inducing!
Maybe they could call it the Lotus 110, wasn't the 109 the last Lotus to compete in F1?

Is that even a functioning car? Looks like a cockpit model. The airbox seems to be blocked off, and doesnt have the "struts" that would keep the rope from a crane in place.

Heidfeld & Petrov smashed to many liveries! Too expensive when the stock price on gold is at an all time high!
The speed of Ayrton Senna.
The mind of Alain Prost.
The dedication of Michael Schumacher.
The determination of Alex Zanardi.

This is him sitting in the R29-04 chassis (Previously used by Alonso in 2009) that has been sitting fully ready since August for Kubica and his return. It has been sitting there with a 2011 steering wheel and a 2011 DRS rear wing since late October as well as the R29 had KERS and they put DRS to bring it up to 2011 regs so to bring Kubica up to speed with DRS.

This car also has a DDD as well, not to mention a 2010 front wing.

Its a "bastardisation" of a car. It has the most downforce of any F1 car out there that is a show car.

I have a feeling that Lotus will be taking this car to a test in the near future to get Kimi up to F1 speed quickly. Id recon that he will be at a track in Spain in the next week or two. It will give him a feel for the tyres and the DRS system that he hasnt used before.
