What is this embedded into the car's floor?

What is this embedded into the car's floor?

I am wondering what is that bulge that is in the middle of the picture above. I understand it is a carbon fiber surface but it seems to be some sort of sensor or hinge that has been embedded into the structure. Does anyone else have anymore knowledge regarding this?

They must be using those temperature sensors that use a laser to sense the actual temperature then? That is the only method I think would work from such a distance from my knowledge.

Laser mounted in handheld temperature sensors is used only to mark the point at which the sensor is aimed. The temperature reading is done by IR detection.
