Story behind this photo?

Senna in Mclaren, should be 1988 but it might some of the following seasons. What was that, did he have injured thumb, so the glove was cut on top of it, and firmed with duct tape?! :?

I expect he probably just had a favourite pair of driving gloves, and didn't want to change them.

Long time board members here understand that on occasion, you simply have to eat some Nomex.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Senna had a superstitious habit of keeping the same glove for a long time, and that his mother was stitching damaged ones from time to time. I could be wrong though, could be another driver.

The glove is probably an indication of an appetite for Nomex after a bet with Ron over winning five on the trot?

The duct tape is surely a reminder to punch Jean-Louis Schlesser firmly on the nose after the race.
