Old F1 regulations

Where are they, and how far back do published ones go?

I'm interested in reading them and maybe looking back a bit!

What's interesting is the small amount of bodywork rules in 2004, and yet even then most of the cars looked very similar...

Image

Just goes to show that rules freedom won't necessarily produce different looking cars; they all converge on the optimum design pretty quickly ....even Williams-BMW dropped their destinctive nose when it turned out to be a mistake....

look at Red bulls design, that has basically been taken as the optimum, look at everyone else essentially converging on the same design 8)

You know I always wondered what the F1 regulation changes were planned for 1995-1998 way back in 1993.

They were never implemented because of the deaths in 1994. After Imola new regs were drafted with the stepped bottom (high noses), etc.

I always wondered what the planned regulation changes were for 1994-1999 had Imola '94 not happened, and what F1 cars would look like today in that reality.

Anyone got the planned changes to F1 regulations drafted in 1993?
F1 car width now 2.0m (same as 1993-1997). Lets go crazy and bring the 2.2m cars back (<1992).

On another forum there was a 'what if' question of what F1 cars would look like now using 70's regulations (early days of the wings and downforce) with modern materials (carbon etc.) and designers (eg Newey and co). Newey did the Gran Turismo X2010 as a 'no rules' car, so a 'different rules' car would be interesting.

Even designing a car to the 2004 rules, knowing what we know now, would be interesting.... like a 2008 car with even less restrictions....

It would make an interestig modelling project for someone....????

The 1994 technical regulations, as they were until after that year's San Marino Grand Prix.

Can't believe there is nothing limiting the front of the car for the 1994 rules. The whole car can be 100cm high, apart from behind the RWCL which has to be 95cm

Yeah, can't find the drawings to go with the regs anywhere?

Anyone know where they'd be?

I don't think those regulations (1994) are anywhere near like the real '94 ones.

Way too much stuff missing.
