Worst car to win a grand prix

Post

Just wondering - what do you all think is the worst car to win a grand prix? ie a car that shouldn't have been battling for the win but did. For me - if Senna had won that 1984 Monaco that would probably be top contender. Maybe Panis 1996 Monaco or Fisi's 2003 Brazil drive?

Damn ... I thought of Panis '96 as soon as I saw the topic title.

Now I'm going to have to think of another one ;)

It's not about who has the worst car - but just an open discussion.

I get that, but there's not much discussion if I'm using the same example as you are ;)

What was the big Ferrari that won by holding up the field? I'd vote that one.

As in - it probably shouldn't have won; given the competitiveness of the car that year. Like my example of the Jordan with Fisico in 2003 Brazil, was it?

The STR that won Monza wasn't exactly a slouch for the rest of the season though ...

It's a shame that Damon Hill couldn't win in Hungary in 1997 with Arrows. It would be my pick, but hey, there's a win for him in Spa 1998 with a Jordan :) Though Jordan finished that year in 4th place in constructors championship, but nevertheless that win was totally unespected ( and sweet ). Of course i was a DH fan back then :)

The same could be said for Senna's 84 Toleman and the red flag at monaco ;)

Panis '96 is still at the top of my list.

That Monaco race was one of my earliest childhood memories. I remember my fanatical uncle literally spazzing out on the couch thinking Senna had won....
