As soon as he snags that Mclaren F1 LM from Ron Dennis he will seriously look for other options.

Newey is the man he ultimately wants to side with. And Newey and Horner being big Hamilton fans.. it is within the possibility.

After that I think he'll do a stint at Ferrari one at Williams, one at Merc then back home to Mclaren.
I thought Mclaren F1 LM required him to win 09. He won in 08 and RD said he needed two in a row(IIRC). I thought is was a one year offer.

It was 3 titles for the LM. Not a back to back.

All of them in a McLaren, I'd assume :D

If I were Lewis (and probably a good job I'm not) I'd ask for a season in FI and then a return to McLaren - get some perspective without straying too far from the fold. Would also give him a chance at a Senna/Monaco/84 or Vettel/STR/Monza moment, which even driving a dog like the 24 he isn't going to get.

It depends on how quick the Mclaren car is & how good Jenson does. I think lewis is likely to movie in 3 years but it is very hard because of the Alonso deal which spoils loads of issues.

I think Vettel's deal would expire in 2014 & if Ferrari can go back to winning ways by then & if Red Bull decline slightly Vettel would be interested in a switch to Ferrari. It has always been his dream. The issue is Alonso till 2016. Fernando is a genius of a driver but also a shrewd politican, I doubt if Seb would want to to Ferrari which has Alonso. Same with lewis.

Besides Ferrari have Alsonso in the bag till 2016,if they want someone they will go for Vettel after a few years, younger, more intelligent & mature & overall a better driver. Plus it feels like MSC Part 2 for all Ferrari fans.

If Vettel does not move, there is no way Red Bull would want Hamilton. Vettel is quick enough to win WCC & Red Bull can always find a decent guy to support him & win WDC.

The other possible vacany is Mercedes. I dont think Lewis is the Type of Driver Mercedes would ideally want(not alluding to speed) but if Nico fails to become a team leader like Fernando is with Ferrari then after Michael's departurehe they can look to Lewis.

IF Mercedes becomes a consistent winning teams Vettel could be interested opening up a possible vanacy in Red Bull.

In other words its Red Bull or Mercedes if Hamilton would want to leave Mclaren.

I've done the research on how long a WDC driver stays in one place for 5 years or more. Hamilton is way down the list. Currently active drivers are in bold

The only WDC with an entire career at one team was Jim Clark with 9 years at Lotus.

Michael Schumacher - Ferrari - 11

Mika Häkkinen - McLaren - 9
Jack Brabham - Brabham - 9
Jim Clark - Lotus - 9 - His entire career

Nelson Piquet - Brabham - 8

Denny Hulme - McLaren - 7
Graham Hill - BRM - 7

Lewis Hamilton - McLaren - 6
Alain Prost - McLaren - 6
Ayrton Senna - McLaren - 6

Phil Hill - Ferrari - 5
Jenson Button - Honda/Brawn - 5
Kimi Räikkönen - McLaren - 5
Jacques Villeneuve - BAR - 5
Alan Jones - Williams - 5
Emerson Fittipaldi - Fittipaldi - 5

Drivers who've only ever driven for 1 team, Jim Clark actually has most seasons: 9. Two-time world champion, so he fits in that description as well.

But as I said in my previous post, I think there's a big attitude difference between them.
He was connected to the team, to Colin Chapman. Jim Clark was Lotus and Lotus was Jim Clark, the same way Schumacher was Ferrari and Ferrari was Schumacher. Aside from having been their padawan since a young age, it just doesn't feel that way with Lewis.
Kimi supporters like your self tend to say that. But others tend to say Hamilton is Mclaren and Mclaren is Hamilton. He's the face of the new Mclaren. People just can't imagine him going any where else.

Hamilton is at the top of the list of drivers that have never changed teams. 100% loyalty, through thick or thin.

So far at least.

Top in terms of races; but not in terms of seasons.

Hamilton to me somehow is very "McLaren," as what smikle says. But then again Hakkinen always seemed a McLaren man to me; and Schumi Ferrari. But now both hang out at the Mercedes garage if they're in the pitlane.

No one would have imagine Schumacher to join Merc, Lewis sacking his own father or David Beckham leaving Man U. In a sport that is worth millions, nothing is impossible, its just a matter of price and opportunity.

Number of races is pretty meaningless in this context because that's a function of the calendar not driver loyalty.

Its the number of years that counts

Number of races is like working hours. Your Curriculum Vitae. Time in the seat. When I was in University my goals achieved there were measured in credit hours.. not years.

If you include BAR as well = 7

On a side note: the team was officially Honda from 2006-08
