Funnily enough isn't that what Ferrari did this year? They have a 3rd (smaller?) radiator that is being fed from the secondary air box (the one behind the main one)

That's where the idea came from, but I thought it was for the gearbox? RBR had it last year too I think.

Last year's McLaren had something there for the KERS and gearbox IIRC. This year's Ferrari it's for another rad. Tombazis said as much.

Oh OK. I'll try to take this one to the extreme if I find intakes are allowed.

Thanks :)

I'm struggling a bit with the regulations. I can't find what that allows vents in this area. I've looked at 3.8 but I've got nothing so far.

Here's a concept I think may have some potential. It's like a small (and I think legal) version of the chimney cooling exits from pre-2009. The advantage of this system is that it keeps the turbulent cooling air away from the bodywork (mostly) and reduces drag over a simple slot. It also allows the sidepods to be much tighter as air is being extracted further forward than with the existing barrel exit at the rear.

I'm not sure about size. I'm sure there are rules limiting the amount of volume the exit can have in certain projections. Also I thought exits in this area were banned but then I remembered this from china 2011:

What do people think? Is it legal?

Updates on the way, new nose, revised cooling system, better diffuser sealing, new exhausts.

What material are you using?

Have you thought of a different colour for the floor & diffuser (black?) and another colour for the driver?

Another colour for the floor would make things easier to see for sure but one colour makes it easier to build and modify. CAD would be nice I guess but I simply don't have the time these days. With the clay I can fabricate new or concept parts very quickly (it does stain my hands red however #-o )

Fair enough :D it normally takes me about 12 hours of working on CAD to produce a prototype car, and then another 10 to refine it :D
