No idea what it IS, but I believe those things can be seen at Barber Motorsports Park.

Correct. And as we all know Barber was to be the test track for the US F1 team. Massive fail, but great track.

What's really neat is in a simulator like rFactor you can easily, if not careful, crash right into the bastards. Great fun!
