it´s beyond me how someone would be able to conceptualise anything on a screen. I even struggle to not get lost when doing a powerpoint presentation and feel much better using the masters from the company guideline and that´s telling me a lot about creativity enhancement by computers ...
to get the drawings into CAD is just footwork ,,necessary to get things into the process ,but you don´t need to waist a genius to learn Catia ..or break a genius ,maybe..

But this year they are copying other teams exhaust layout. They were not the first with the double deck diffuser or the F-duct. Hardy the masters of creativity.

APPLE doesnt produce all the parts themselves either. They are mostly made at Foxconn in China.

for me redbull is just redbull, nothing like apple or microsoft etc.
If you did want a tech company comparison with RedBull as a whole, not just the race team, I'd be looking at Google. Mainly for the "finger in every pie going" mentality both firms seem to share. RBR is just one string in the RedBull bow.

On the Apple comparison, based on fan passion, Ferrari are a bit appley and on cleanliness, secrecy and working environment.and attention to detail outside of the product/car look at the MTC....

...but I digest.

AS the seasons with sinilar regs go by there is less and less difference between the cars.

And as McLaren has showed - the order doesn't necessarily stay the same either.

Remember 2008 when they invented the shark fin

If I recall correctly...Apple copied Xerox.

Amongst many many others. They also have a habit of buying up innovative companies and releasing the products as themselves. Take Siri as an example.

Back to the orginial topic...

Things Red Bull came up with (or perfected first) from the 2009 reg change up to 2011 that may have contributed:

*Well developed outwash front wing from the start
*Refined 'coke bottle' body with extreme narrow rear end/gearbox/pull rod rear suspension
*High nose and heavily undercut sidepod concept to channel air from front to the rear
*Exhuast blown diffusor
*Exhaust blown floor (sealing diffusor)
*Off throttle blowing
*Flexi front wing to increase highspeed downforce
*Flexi floor (never confirmed) to allow extreme rake
*High cooling exit position

Probably coupled with other invisible packaging and internal aero novelties, designed from the start to work well with the above concepts, giving very high inherent downforce/drag ratio and ability to run skinny wings.

It also doesn't hurt to have four testbeds in the wake of a major overhaul of the formula and severe testing restrictions. Such was the case for Red Bull in 2009.
