Whether or not the car looked mechanically soft is debatable or up to a certain amount of interpretation. I didn't pay that much attention in the broadcast. But even presuming that is true and the car is indeed mechanically soft, who is to say that isn't their dry package and that they felt it was the best compromise? In any event it clearly worked pretty well relative to the field.
What would be telling is if there were an appreciable change in attitude control in the Merc cars from how they unloaded and ran in FP1, to their qualifying / race trim.
Yeah i agree, they are definatly going for the best compromise. That F-duct really gave them an advantage in a postion like this. Although i didn't see anything noticable setup differences from the other cars. Although, i'm kind of concerned about Hamilton's setup if the rain falls because he's been off track and had lockups almost all weekend long but there is no doubt he's a great wet weather driver.
